Lollipop Corpse

@FunCartel I can't play the accordion, but maybe we can get weird al? I can yodel, will that work if al is unavailable?

@ChefKate Yes, yodeling will work as emo polka is about attitude. We still need lots of black eyeliner, black nail polish, black mascara and one hell of a bubble machine.

Yodeling is always good. Yes. 👍🏽

Now... hmm, what else could we use for this group? Ooh, I know! How about some sweetly biting lyrics? Something peppy and friendly sounding, but that'll tear your soul into little pieces if you get too close. Just like a lollipop corpse!

  • I say we cover the song “Broken Radio”. Gotta have lyrics like:

I'm certain if I drive into those trees
It'll make less of a mess
    Than you've made of me

@FunCartel: Ooh. I like it. Lollipop Corpse is sounding better and better all the time.

  • I'd like to see what we could do with Shiny Happy People from REM. I bet we could put a whole new spin on it.

Ooh, I'll be on make up and wardrobe.

Sure I can pull together something suitably nightmarish.

  • @BuggleBear I have lots of costumes and stage makeup...kinda comes with the territory of having a theater degree. There's this white dress from the 50s that will be fabulous once it's emo'd out...maybe with black tie dye and placed under a black light. Also have a lot of sugar glass...not sure how to incorporate that.

If we ever wanted to do original lyrics, these might work. Though I haven't done the music yet. Eh, work in progress!

God is good (all the time)
All the time (God is good)
    So smile (and smile)
    And smile (and smile)
    And smile (and smile)
    And smile….

    Hey!
    We see you there,
    Looking so depressed,
    No need, my friend,
    To be so stressed!
    Come join with us
    Be truly blessed
    Let us share with you
    The sacred text!

    Don't worry (don't worry)
    Be happy (be happy)
    Turn that frown (that frown)
    Upside down (upside down)

    Come join with us,
    We'll soothe your pain;
    You'll never feel
    Sorrow again.
    Leave your fears!
    Silence your brain!
    Come join us in
    The glad refrain:

    If you (believe)
    You will (receive)
    Life is fair (it's fair)
The world does care (we care)

    Come smile with us!
    Good attitude
    Overcomes all;
    Success through mood!
    What is the world
    But how it's viewed?
    Of course you fail
    When you sit and brood!

    Don't worry (don't worry)
    Be happy (don't think)
    You get (what you give)
    You deserve (what you want)

    Be happy here!
    Don't ever cry:
    You have no cause,
    No reason why!
    Come join with us
    Keep those eyes dry
    We're joyful here
    And that's no lie.

God is good (all the time)
All the time (God is good)
    So smile (and smile)
    And smile (and smile)
    And….

You can't fail, because happiness is a choice!

    ...(Smile and smile)
    (And smile and smile)
    (And smile and smile)
    (And smile and smile)....

  • @DarrenWalker I'm not sure how, uhmm, on brand those lyrics would be. But I appreciate your effort and sharing.

@ChefKate: Too peppy, huh? Not emo enough? Well.... [rueful shrug] Yeah. Could be I don't listen to enough emo to write it well (or at all, for all I know). Hmm. It's too mocking, maybe? I dunno. Oh well. At least it was fun to write, I guess.

I think the lyrics should just be melancholy wailing/sobbing over a frantic polka beat.

    Polka For Sad People.

  • Looks like Poland beat us to the punch... and I wanted to be original. Sigh.

    Dammit Poland!
