Understanding the science behind the need

Hi all,

Thanks for having me as a part of this very active empathetic group. I want to know more about the neuroscience and psychology behind the need to cuddle asexually. Has anyone come across scientific studies which prove that need for human touch exists independent of the sexual release.

I know I can research myself but learned from my experiences that they are really important in understanding of a state, so please share the studies only if you agree or if the author herself experienced it.

Let me know if I can be of some use to anyone. If not physical warmth I can lend a keen trustworthy ear or discuss on any topic for mental stimulation.

Regards
G

One more question. Although I am very clear in my conscious mind that this is purely platonic, is it common to still have a preference for the gender / age / attractiveness of cuddler like I think I do?
