Food for thought! Whose hungry ?! 😝

Good morning 🌞 All,

Reaching out for tenured members knowledge and feedback as well as personal and general responses from anyone who wishes to weigh in.

My questions are :

What constitutes a personal attack on the forums?

What culture do you feel is promoted on this cc and how so?

If you bring to light in appropriate conduct on this site within a forum or otherwise, is it addressed ?

Comments

  • "What constitutes a personal attack on the forums?"

"An abusive remark on or relating to somebody's person instead of providing evidence when examining another person's claims or comments."
    https://www.yourdictionary.com/personal-attack

    For instance, saying something like:

"You are an ugly potato, yo momma is a dirt ridden yam and don't even get me started on yo father. 😩 His blood is so yucky not even mosquitoes want to be around him."

"What culture do you feel is promoted on this cc and how so?"

A healthy inviting culture by doing our best to cultivate it and people who are unkind are dealt with asap.

"If you bring to light in appropriate conduct on this site within a forum or otherwise, is it addressed ?"

It's my experience that it has been.

  • PS. I can't with certainty say what constitutes it from the perspective of the site managers. Though I think the dictionary definition of a personal attack is a safe bet.

    From the site’s TOS:

    Forum use

This section governs use of the discussion forum, and applies to all users either directly or indirectly, registered or otherwise.

You agree, through your use of our forum, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, adult material, or otherwise in violation of any International or United States Federal law. You also agree not to post any copyrighted material unless you own the copyright or you have written consent from the owner of the copyrighted material. Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also forbidden on this forum.

Note that it is impossible for the staff or the owners of this forum to confirm the validity of posts. Please remember that we do not actively monitor the posted messages, and as such, are not responsible for the content contained within. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information presented. The posted messages express the views of the author, and not necessarily the views of this forum, its staff, its subsidiaries, or this forum's owner. Anyone who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to notify an administrator or moderator of this forum immediately. The staff and the owner of this forum reserve the right to remove objectionable content, within a reasonable time frame, if they determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, please realize that they may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately. This policy applies to member profile information as well.

You remain solely responsible for the content of your posted messages. Furthermore, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the owners of this forum, any related websites to this forum, its staff, and its subsidiaries. The owners of this forum also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or any other related information collected on this service) in the event of a formal complaint or legal action arising from any situation caused by your use of this forum.

  • I don't know what exactly is a personal attack, as that can take many forms, but I do know how to avoid getting into one - I ask myself the question every time I post - "is what I am about to post factual and based on what is indeed true? Or is it my belief or projection about the situation?"

  • I would agree with @Lovelight. Bad actors, bad posts and bad intentions have not lasted long on CC. However, misunderstandings and misinterpretations between people are not a part of that unless it devolves into insults and name calling. In short, if it goes from an adult disagreement to meet me at the swing set after school for a sound thrashing.

  • Also from TOS:

    Conduct

In your digital interactions with other users (including, but not limited to: site messages, instant messages, blog postings, review postings and forum comments), you agree to conduct yourself civilly and respectfully. While using the website, you agree that you shall not under any circumstances harass or make mischief against any other user of the Website. Cuddle Comfort reserves the right to determine, at its sole discretion, what constitutes harassment or mischief, and where that has occurred; and may, also at its sole discretion, partially or completely deny service to any infringing party.

Please ensure you read the rules of conduct before communicating with other users on this website.

We reserve the right to ban, suspend or delete any account for any reason.

  • In practice, most personal attacks don't fall close to the boundary.

Inappropriate conduct is dealt with, usually quite quickly and effectively.

The culture is definitely inclusive, everybody really is welcome here except trolls and arseholes.

  • @Lovelight gaahhd that insult hit me deep lol πŸ˜†

  • Thanks everyone for the detailed information. Definitely wish I’d read some of this sooner but it is appreciated.
