Something really, really special

Hey everyone! I've been thinking lately about a month or so ago when a friend came over and cuddled with me and let me cry into her chest as she held me close and I just want to say that if you've ever cuddled a man and allowed him to cry while you held him, you've done one of the greatest things you could possibly do for him.

I can't speak for all males, but for me growing up, I was made to feel like I couldn't cry. I couldn't cry to my family because I would just get told to stop crying, or worse, I'd get called a "little girl". I forced myself to hold back tears for so many years that even when I really did want to cry, conditioning prevented it from happening and those feelings just continued building up and rotting away inside me. I also stopped getting held after childhood so that just added a lot of touch starvation. Not saying my family didn't love me or anything, we just weren't the huggiest family. I imagine a lot of other men can relate to this; the experiences of being insulted or called "weak" for expressing normal emotions.

When my friend wrapped her arms around me and let me cry into her, it made me feel reborn. It wiped my slate clean of every negative thought and feeling I had been having for months until we cuddled and I felt spiritually clean. It truly cleaned away all the sludge inside my mind and soul and it really made me feel what I imagine heaven feels like.

If you cuddle a man and just let him feel this vulnerable in your arms to where he can bawl his eyes out, you are a true healer, and you are appreciated more than you'll ever know.

  • @RaveHeart You are truly blessed to have experienced that. It takes a lot of strength to be vulnerable, especially as a man.

Thank you for sharing your heartfelt story.
I am very happy for you. It is absolutely ok to cry.

  • I think this is great; men deserve a safe space to do this, and it shouldn't only be in a cuddling scenario, either.

  • Even as a woman, I can relate to this. And I'm so glad you had this experience with your friend. Safe relationships are so healing.
