There is a very old story of five blind men who were presented with an elephant. Each one stood in a different place around the elephant and experienced it in a different way. The one standing next to a leg thought an elephant was like a tree, while the one feeling a tusk thought it was like a spear, etc, etc.
There are different versions about what the outcome was. In one version, the blind men all thought the others were lying, got angry, and fought with one another.
In another version, they decided to listen to one another. They discovered that there were ways in which they were all correct, even though none had a complete picture. By comparing their experiences, they all got a better picture of what an elephant really was.
We all have our perspective, and since we all stand in different places, we see different things. While an absolute truth may exist, it's possible that none of us has a complete picture.
I want to be one of the blind men who listens and learns.
