@cuddles_ndream I haven't considered an EV because I just paid off my car a few months ago and I intend to drive it as long as possible. So while I may be paying more for gas, I don't have a car payment right now. And I don't really drive that much anyway. I'd have to research and be convinced EVs handle well in Maine winters.
@OhioMike i highly doubt it since its now officially summer & demand is at an all time high, I don’t see them incentivizing at this time (although they should, and maybe they’ll take this fact into consideration & do so) …. Its interesting how we hardly have a say on how our tax money gets spent …. Saying, “that’s our tax money” is irrelevant today lol it is honestly really theirs.
@cuddles_ndream Sometimes government incentives backfire. I can't think of an example, but I know you won't hold my feet to the fire til I can think of one. Ha ha. Regarding your comment about our tax money, you are correct.
I know many people dislike generalizations and they can be a bad and wrong thing, but many women, including me, just go to the pump, get gas, and move on. I like to be cheap, but I know i've got to have SOME gas and the stations I frequent are close to the same price, so I just get it and go. I fill up at different times so the price can vary quite a bit. If It varies a lot, I question it. Then I realize gas has gone up and now that I think about it, I heard some people talking about it.
It makes me think of what someone said once about VCRs back in the day. Women don't care how the VCR works; they just want to know that it does. Lol. That's how I feel.
@Moxytocin thats a really good point! No better feeling than actually having the tital to your vehicle & not owing a cent , why get into another 1? I can only imagine the snow up in New England as well, & if you don’t drive like that than the switch is not worth it at that point … I’ve never been to Maine but I think I’ll love it (minutes the snow & winter), but than again I’m a homebody so I don’t know what I’m worried about 😅

Remember “Cash for Clunkers” 😉 … although it was a nice foot forward, I felt at the time it would be such a waste of money (which it was) … I always thought they should have used the money to build EV infrastructure across the nation instead of “eliminating gas guzzlers”, which did absolutely nothing to reduce our dependency on oil.

Atleast $3 billion dollars went to that program … I would have used that $3 billion dollars, partnered with ABB ( e-mobility.abb.com ) as well as big / small / and mid sized retailers across the nation & rolled out a real ev infrastructure that would have made DC fast chargers readily available for consumers all around & significantly reduced range anxiety … the only people that benefited (in my opinion) from cash for clunkers were dealership owners.
@cuddles_ndream I've never been interested in getting an electric car. Doesn't mean that might not be for the best, and I am fairly community-minded. If ev infrastructure was addressed and DC fast chargers were Really Available all around I could get more interested in it. I barely know enough to say this. Lol. We better get back on topic
