Wish there was...

Wish there were such things as "cuddle shops". They'd be like coffee shops but where you could go to get a quick boost of happiness. I feel great after cuddling but I've noticed the couple days after I feel more down/lonely.

  • @KamikaziNinja86 … maybe you are on to something. Combine cuddle, coffee and maybe kittens and or puppies and that would be awesome!

  • If i had the dough i would back that idea up, we need places like that 😮

  • Human societies once existed in regular cuddle environments. For proof of this, look no further than our primate cousins.

Wanting to cuddle stems for a need to satisfy that primal craving of touch.

Humans, at the same time, are extremely adaptable. So if you don't cuddle for a long time, you get used to it and don't really know what you are missing anymore.

So, when you experience that one-off cuddle, while it may feel good in the short term, you are reminded of what you are lacking, hence the unhappiness in the long term.

  • I hate to throw cold water on a great idea, but I have serious doubts about whether that would work, at least in the U.S. Politicians who know nothing about the subject (which isn't all that unusual), would have a knee jerk reaction: "Prostitution! Shut it down."

  • A cuddle shop would be amazing! Oxytocin drop is very much a thing unfortunately. The bonding hormone surges when we get cuddly, leaving most feeling pretty good for a day or two, and then it can crash. Self care and being kind and easy to yourself can help :)

It would be neat if coffee shops allowed professional cuddle therapists to hang out to snuggle patrons. I picture people with a little sign saying "need a cuddle while you sip? come on over!"

  • Not that I've ever been, but I hear Asian Massage Parlor therapists take requests. I'm sure they'll be happy to give you a nice long hug, for a small fee, of course.

  • . . . or get a Tshirt that says, "Ask me for a hug. - really," and put it on anytime you need one. Might get free hugs.

  • . . . and, CC should have PDF flyers people can print and post at schools, libraries, senior centers, laundromats parks, etc. to increase cuddlers in their area.

  • @JohnfromVienna - what’s stopping you from making your own flyers?

  • @KamikaziNinja86 interesting post 👍. It reminded me of the table games in Vegas where they have massage people come right to the table while you play !

  • @MCcuddles2 - I think you nailed it. I had been touch deprived for way too long before finding this site last August. When I began cuddling, it was instantly enjoyable but it left me emotionally confused for a couple of months as it awoke parts of me that had been so long buried that I had forgotten about them. Last fall I lost my ability to focus and get stuff done as I started really feeling emotions again.

Thankfully I found balance, worked through some painful memories, and am now feeling better than I have in many years. Cuddling has been an important and ongoing part of my journey to better understand myself and my need for platonic, physical connection with others.
