I can't say I've heard of that happening on here but if it does, they should be reported.
  • Ok
Not sure if this person is for real or not
    I'll keep you posted

I have a thread about this stuff already, so check that out for some stories which may make you feel better.

Also, for the last 2 months or so I've been talking to this girl on here through text and phonecalls who is most definitely a catfish. I wasn't sure at first, and even called her on it. "She" got all upset and "convinced" me she wasn't, but I stayed skeptical. Now I'm pretty sure I was right all along and I think I was talking to two different people throughout. People are weird, man. I'm intrigued by catfish, though, because I can't figure out what they get from it? It's mean spirited but ever so fascinating.
  • Happened to me once in person about 6 years ago.  Was supposed to meet a lady for a massage, agreed on a time and place, confirmed by text / email- and then when I arrived total silence- no communication at all never heard from her again despite repeated attempts to contact her.

and it still happens online all the time.  People using fake videos to try and convince you that they are real.

Not really sure what they get out of it - bottom line is to be careful!!!

I have a good one in the other thread... basically the short of it was that a girl's ex-husband used her pic and opened a dating profile. Suckered me in with conversation then invited me to pick her up for dinner. I showed up to this lady's house and she had no idea who I was. She was also armed with a gun! Good times. Luckily I'm charismatic and ended up talking with the woman and her dad for half an hour or so. That's how I found out it was her ex.
  • Sounds like you've been lucky.  A lot of cat fishing schemes center around robbery of the victim when he shows up.

  • I was catfished a few years back. I find the sceanario quite sad now on reflection as I think this individual was geninuely lonely yet chose to misrepresent his/herself. As trust is very important to me, I had to end the connection as my naivety wore off.

So that back story was depression following an injury which affected his mobility etc. As I was quite busy juggling works it was easy for contact to continue though we never met in person within the months of correspondence.

Not from lack of planing to meet up initiated by him. The second time he stood me up still caused a geninue worry until common sense/ suspicion kicked in.

I confronted him and he sort of owed up. By then it was far too gone. Luckily 4 me, this story wasn't as dangerous compared to cuddlelingo's.

Just sad this person missed out on a potentially supportive friend which was what they were apparently looking for.

Oops .  I clicked on this thread thinking I was to get someone's bait/ tackle recommendations to catch . Also a recipe to prepare said discussion title as table fare.
