French & Italian. (Studying, not fluent yet. Wish my family had kept them alive when they came from Italy & France but becoming English speaking asap was survival so I understand why they didn’t.)
I know spanish and am currently learning Swedish. I visited there once and fell in love!
@metanoiahour I was always fascinated with ASL when I was little and they would have the sign language interpreter in the little oval in the bottom right hand corner of the tv way before closed captions. Then I had a chance to take ASL as my foreign language in college. It was a lot of fun.

Sure enough, college Japanese is better than Japanese learned alone. Novels are definitely tough to read! If I don't use dictionaries of various types I can't get anywhere. I mostly read manga and light novels. This kind of thing:

I am comfortable in English, Spanish and I am learning French. I do know a couple of non-European languages as well and one of them is my mother tongue.

@HumbleBaron I'm brazilian. Sempre é bom saber que mais gente estuda português. Eu estudo inglês há décadas. Cada idioma tem seus detalhes, e se algo não pode ser dito em um idioma, culturalmente, aquilo não existe ou simplesmente acaba. Existem coisas que não tem como dizer em inglês, assim como tem coisas que não tem como dizer em português. Pena que aqui no brasil não exista algo parecido com este site. Já conheci uma única pessoa mas foi em um site concorrente que foi desativado depois do virus chines.

@FunCartel I always use to say that too. That the goal is to not know any foreign languages because they won't be anymore, they'd be familiar languages lol
And I speak almost fluent Spanish (still building it), learning Mandarin Chinese which is my heritage, love listening to Korean music so I want to learn that as well, and I've always been interested in learning Japanese because of anime and music too. So I know words and phrases in each but only conversational in Spanish, so far. I also wanna learn Portuguese and maybe Tagalog for whoever my future Filipina wife will be lol
I speak French, Spanish, and a little Russian. I can also order a beer in several other languages….
So Spanish and Portuguese are my first languages but I learned English early enough to call it a native language. I also speak Japanese after living their for awhile in my undergrad. I took a few courses, had friends teach and am self taught in German, Tagalog, French and Korean.
I guess they aren’t exactly foreign anymore as I know you rather fluently 😅
