Cuddling in a movie theater

For someone worried about safety, a movie theater seems like a great public safe place to meet for a first cuddle. I’ve suggested it a few times and nobody is interested in it. Am I missing something?

  • Love movie theaters 🍿 🎥 but seem a bit uncomfortable to cuddle, even at the really nice ones with reclining seats ect (unless its more of holding hands & or snuggling besides someone), or simply enjoying someone else’s company.

  • I definitely get it from a safety standpoint, I just tend to be a private person and don't love PDA other than hand holding.

  • @AZcuddles602 You are not missing anything. It may not be a "real" cuddle, but a movie cuddle lends itself to getting to know someone in a "safe" environment before going to someone's place or inviting someone to your place.

  • I can't think of many theaters that have seating that would allow for it. Maybe like an iPic? I think some of those have a "loveseat" type seating. I don't think there are any others. If so, it's likely not gonna be like a Regal or AMC, but a higher end theater or "Premium" theater, like where you can order food and have it brought to you during the movie.

  • Some theaters are better than others as well. There is one about 40 minutes away from me (that used to be super close but I moved) that has recliners and every other one has the arm rests between that you can move out of the way.
I haven't seen another theater yet like that, but I'm looking!

  • Ah makes sense @cuddles_ndream and @TNNative Maybe I need to clarify that upon meeting someone, I’m most comfortable with holding hands and snuggling.

@cudbud64 This is the response I’m getting and I’m confused by. Movie theaters are dark while the movie is playing and depending on the day/time, they can be pretty empty.

@KaaGee and @BrianL I agree. In my state, we have a ton of nice comfortable ones that allow for cozy snuggling. I’ve only gone with friends or the kids, but the last time I went it occurred to me that it might be nice to snuggle with someone there.

  • @AZcuddles602 hope you find someone that’s up for it, sounds like it would be an awesome / comforting / relaxing time.

  • You’re welcome 🙂 @AZcuddles602 🌌

  • I go to movies a lot and unless it's a blockbuster like Top Gun, in Los Angeles at least, the theaters are often rather empty -- even in the evenings. Twenty-five percent of the time I'm the only one there. Another 25 percent there less than 10 people. Either way, sit in the back and you practically have the theater all to yourself.

  • @homeboy Same here in Phoenix.

  • Subscriptions such as AMC Stubs A*List made going to the movies affordable again, unless you're the type who has to buy popcorn/snacks every time you go.

  • Drive in movie theaters are great because you csn cuddle in back seat snd bring your own snacks

  • @FutureHeart2023 - Drive in theaters are rare these days. Owners don't make much money off of those. It's seasonal, can only show movies at night, and they miss out on concession sales. Can't really stop people from having their own snacks in the car.

  • 20+ Years ago I was out in Mesa, Arizona and I went to a “Dive in Theater”. It was like a drive in theater but rather than sitting in your car, you cooled off in a pool or floated on a pool float while watching a movie on a big screen. Good times!

@JohnR1972 - They have those at a local amusement/water park here during the summer. It's included with park admission.

  • @FutureHeart2023 I haven’t been to a drive in movie theater in over a decade, but I imagine that would be a great place to cuddle / snuggle.

@Mike403 Yes, much more affordable. I also go for matinees as a way to keep costs low.

@JohnR1972 my old gym does movie days in the pool with big screens outside. It gets so crowded that I never attended.

  • @AZcuddles602 I've been cuddling for a few months, haven't had any attempts in a theatre, so I can't exactly speak to how it would go. I get the hesitation, it took me almost a year to get started.

I would think there's just a different feel of having the freedom to talk to the other person without being in a public setting while other people could be around, even if a theatre is empty. I'm also one of those (funny) movie commentators and if someone didn't vibe that way then I could see it being annoying lol. I won't cuddle at my own place, it's just not a good fit, and I've been fortunate enough to have cuddle buddies who have space we can use.

For safety recommendations..... I will have a meet up prior to actually cuddling, just to see if the vibe is the same as messaging here and or a call beforehand, and we both have the ability to decide after a certain point in the conversation in person to move forward with cuddling or not, same day or another. I always share with a friend where I am going and with who, and my cuddle buddys are also told that I will be sharing this information. If someone isn't understanding what you need to do for safety measures, then they aren't the right cuddle buddy for you.

Sending you good vibes across the cuddle-verse 🤗

This sounds like such a wonderful idea!

  • @cudbud64 Those are all fair points. Thanks for the good vibes in the cuddleverse —ditto to you!

    @Nina_Mitchell Thanks!

  • Many years ago, when my wife and I had a 6 month old baby, it was cheaper to go to a drive in than to hire a baby sitter. We would back into the space and drop the tailgate of our station wagon. The baby would go to sleep (or nurse if she woke up), and we would stretch out and lie back on some pillows. We could cuddle while watching (or not watching) the movie. I assure you all that a drive in is definitely a good place to cuddle.

That being said, for the last 25 years, we have lived less than 10 miles from a drive in, and haven't gone to it once.

@FutureHeart2023 - Drive in theaters are indeed great for cuddling, but @AZcuddles602 started this thread by saying "For someone worried about safety.........." When a woman is concerned about safety, I wonder if a drive in would make her feel as safe as would a normal indoor theater.

  • I've done it, I found it to be a decent place. Cost might be an issue for some people, and perhaps others are looking for something more shooshy. I think it's good for a first meeting for those who wish to take things slow as it can allow for some light cuddly stuff but it won't go past that.

Minus cost considerations, I think that if a movie theatre cuddle is your pace then anyone who isn't willing to meet you there probably wasn't for you anyways.

  • The AMC where I live has loveseat type of seating and the seats are heated...they allow you to bring small blankets if you like

@BrianL the AMC where I live has loveseat type of seating and the seats are heated. They also have food and adult beverages

  • @AZcuddles602
Cuddling in movie theaters are great, in New York ive been to the movies with a few cuddlers, been to a drive-in movies in Brooklyn too. Not everyone is comfortable cuddling one on one privately yet, but want to cuddle, this is a great compromise, and a fun way to spend time together to see if you click-vibe, make sure you spend time before hand for coffee to talk, communication is everything, cuddling is the easy part. 😊

@AZcuddles602 That sounds like an amazing idea, I might even have to add that into my bio as an option!

  • I can imagine, that for cuddling in a movie theater, this would work for a lot of people. I think I would find it very stressful. Being almost totally blind, I would require a lot of guidance to even get to the seating area, let alone finding a seat. The person in question would have to be comfortable doing the guiding. However, as I get older, I find that the sound level in theaters is just super overwhelming. This would make conversation of any kind difficult. Not to mention causing havoc with my constitution. I'm at the point now, where if I'm overwhelmed by too much sound, it can make me nauseous. I know that I am probably in a small minority here inciting all of these issues though.

  • @AZcuddles602 I've had cuddle sessions in a movie theater. It's not quite as comfy if the armrests don't move out of the way completely, but I enjoyed it.

  • i would love that 💛

Cuddling in the theater is really comfy and enjoyable. I have done it a few times and it was great.
