The power of coregulation

Im learning polyvagul theory and Im really excited to be incorporating it into my work as a cuddler.

One of the concepts is that our nervous systems will sync together and we learn to regulate with those around us. Whether that be in our sympathetic states, or in a safe space with each other.

As cuddlers, I feel this is beyond crucial to be able to provide for our clients. We need to learn how to regulate our nervous systems so that when we are with our clients they feel that added safety with us and can potentially have a deeper healing experience.

Who else uses this in their work or have experienced this with their cuddlers? I would love to hear more about your experiences

You are on to something in the context of use, emotion regulation, social connection and fear response are ill connected to the release of ocytocin can happen in many ways.
Are you looking directly at the connection to the hypothalamus or the posterior pituitary gland?
Although I have never thought about it I would interested to know what you discover.

  • I love the power of coregulation! I even have it as a comment in my profile of one of the top reasons I like to cuddle.

  • @BgstickTeddyBea currently Im just looking at connecting to the hypothalamus because my background is in EFT, but Im taking a somatic trauma healing certification and want to extend that deeper to the whole network of the vagus nerve. I have a lot of success in the work so far, but I've really only just started.

  • @xelda oh I love that!!! You make a great point, if Im going to be focused on that, I should incorporate it into my profile as well. Thank you for sharing.

  • @nicoleisradiant As a pro, if you have these skills and education to offer, definitely mention it. It would be something that would be added value in my mind.
