I find that general feelings of relaxation and comfort exist among most cuddle sessions

  • Safe, comfortable, relaxed, calm, happy... So many different feelings during great cuddles.

Are you using the “Submit” button as a command or decree?? Because I kneel before no one. 🤔

Calm, relaxed, comfortable, warm, and happy

  • Depends on the person. I’ve experienced things from rest, peace, relaxation, and oxytocin to feeling impatient and ready for a session to be over. That’s probably more about me and my never ending list of things to be done. I’ve have one session so far that was other dimensional. Euphoric. Platonic. And euphoric. It was incredible. What I learned from that one: sllloooooow all touch and caressing down. Deep breaths. Eyes closed. And truly give in to the sensations of touch on your skin.

  • The first time I felt nurtured, comfortable, safe, relaxed, all the things that typically describe an ideal cuddle.

The second time included a period during the session of silence, just enjoying the background tunes and mutual caresses. I was completely alert, but for the first time in my adult life maybe, my mind was totally clear. I wasn’t focused on anything at all, just total enjoyment of that moment. It was so awesome.

  • It depends on the cuddle. At its best I feel calm, cared for, relaxed, happy, comfortable, etc. 🥰 That's usually the case with people who I have cuddled with more than one time. You get into the cuddle Zen zone and just enjoy all of the sensations and are totally in the moment. ❤

  • I feel the person I'm cuddling....

For me it’s so relaxing and comfortable.
It’s like my mind goes into neutral, I may have things on my mind, like things I need to get done or maybe I had a bad day but after a few minutes it all goes away.
I even cuddled with a cracked rib and it never bothered me at all.
I tend to doze off and when my cuddle partner also dozes off I think it’s so nice that they feel that comfortable and safe.
I feel so relaxed after a 2 hour or more cuddle I sleep so well that night.
I call it recharging my cuddle battery

  • During it’s a myriad of feelings and emotions toppling over themselves...it’s as if I’m traversing something internal but not entirely sure what. I can only really speak to how I feel after it which is refreshed. This refreshed feeling like I just drank from an ancient spring or breathed in a dose of pure oxygen. Like the feeling you feel after a shower but better.

  • It depends on the person I am cuddling. One cuddle partner makes me feel intoxicated even though neither of us touch alcohol or any mind altering substances. After cuddling with her I get extremely light headed when I stand up (and that NEVER happens to me under any other circumstances). I sometimes have to sit in my car for about 10 minutes before I feel safe enough to start the engine and drive away.

A different cuddle partner causes me to see flashes of light through my closed eyelids that flash in time with her and caressing my skin.

I once had a tandem float tank experience with an enthusiast and although we were not touching and could not even see each other, I could vividly sense her presence in ways I don’t completely understand and can’t even begin to describe.

Every cuddle I have had has been enjoyable but no two cuddle partners have ever been the same experience.

@JohnR1972 I've been wanting to try the double float.

I've done it once by myself but spent the entire 90 minutes going from wall to wall in the tank and could not shut my brain off.

I think being able to ground myself by holding my partners hand as we floated would work.

Still trying to convince @waynewv he will not sink and drown if he falls asleep. I'm sure it would be relaxing for me, but slightly terrifying for him.

It's something we are still discussing. Thank you for sharing your experience with this.

  • Not something specific I guess, but it is one of the moments I can be "off" in a demanding live where I always have to be "on", it provides a necessary break and some ultimate relaxation

  • I feel affirmed. Not sure if that's a sustainable source of affirmation though.

  • @KYtransplant - I haven’t seen you in the forums for a while, it is great to see you back on here!

When I first started doing floats last January I was told that it takes 3 floats to really get a feel for how to do / use them properly. I practice meditation and that really helped me be able to quiet and open my mind faster when I went into the float tank. I’ve now done over 2 dozen floats (I have a monthly spa membership that includes unlimited use if their float tank).

Before joining this site 18 months ago, I would have probably rolled my eyes at talk about “energy” and “auras” but I have since experienced things that have convinced me they are real. The float tank seemed to magnify our auras to the point that they were nearly tangible.

  • I feel alert and my body buzzes with energy which I am giving to the person I am cuddling. Once the cuddle session is over I normally get a cracker of a headache and have to shower and drink plenty of fluids. I look forward to a cuddle session where I am relaxed and not come out the end with a headache.

  • Whenever I am cuddled, I feel a great deal of appreciation, calmness and warmth.

  • Great question! Cuddle sessions give me a mixture of almost contradictory feelings that is hard to find doing anything else. I'll feel very grounded and calm, but also energized/exhilarated at the same time. 🌈☺️💕

  • @PrettyLuv

    Yes! Completely refreshed! 🥰

  • @JohnR1972 @KYtransplant a double float sounds amazing! I've been so curious about a flotation tank experience, but haven't gotten up the courage to do it yet. Sharing the experience with someone is an angle I hadn't even considered (but now I see that my local place does offer tandem floats!). Hmmmm....

During a cuddle I generally feel calm and relaxed. However, afterward I feel invigorated and ready to take on the world.

An increase of confidence, activity and positive mood, etc...

  • Terrific thread thanks for launching @Keiambraa. Reading all and learning. I like holding others, and sometimes I feel warm and strong while wrapping my arms around someone. Doesn’t happen every time though, and although I’m not too experienced here I agree with every cuddle being different. Great advice @SoulFood84 to slow down, and others on here that said to enjoy the moment. Slow the breath, heighten our senses.

Contentment and a heavy relaxation. Sleepy maybe? If fingers are in my hair. That’s why I have that long Indian silk!

I do love talking and laughing while our bodies as clasped together

  • @WiserGuy3000 - I would encourage you to give it a try. I began floating in a sensory deprivation chamber at a University in Ohio which had the best chamber experience (totally soundproof and totally dark). However, it was a long drive to get there and their changing room was literally a large, tiled closet with a shower and floor drain.

I did a few floats there including the most intense float of my life (my Apple Watch and Oura ring both showed me having a normal heart rate all day prior to the float then a significantly elevated heart rate for the next 14 hours after the float). I won’t go into detail here but that float experience was intense.

I now float in a spa where I have a membership that allows me unlimited floating for a fixed price each month. The overall experience is much nicer but the room isn’t quite as soundproof or dark as the sensory deprivation chamber I was originally floating in.

A couple of tips when you go…
    1) I encourage you to practice meditation before going so you can learn how to quiet your mind and get the most out of your experience
    2) minimize your caffeine consumption the morning of your float - in a dark quiet room you will be distracted by your own heartbeat if you drink a lot of caffeine
    3) avoid stress and bad news for at least an hour or two before the float. Don’t listen to news about shootings, wars, riots and political issues right before floating - you don’t want to carry heavy, negative thoughts into an experience where you are cut off from external stimuli because your mind will want to drift back to the most recent input it received prior to beginning your float.
    4) avoid shaving the day of your float. The water is EXTREMELY salty (for buoyancy) and any skin irritation can be painful in that salty water.
    5) there is a bit of a learning curve to get the most out of a float. If your first experience is just “ok” give it a 2nd or 3rd try. It varies person to person but it sometimes takes a couple of floats to really get in touch with yourself and get the most out of the experience.

    Good luck!
