just wondering
People seem to pick on me a lot lately? Anyway I don’t haven’t evidence other than that feeling, like they believe I’m easy to pick on but boyyyyy are they wrong. Endless wit, but live and direct when needed.
People think I'm weird until they get to know me 🥹
My kids tell me people don’t know how funny I am 🤷♀️
People think I'm an extrovert, and naturally outgoing. In fact, I'm an introvert, with severe social anxiety. I have worked, and continue to work very hard to engage with people the way that I do.
Love this topic idea, @bananapuddin.

@WinterSoldierzz I don’t think it would be very smart to pick on someone with a vibranium arm 🦾☺️
@SunsetSnuggles same with me 🫂
Most of my friends see me as kind, engaging and with a good sense of humor. My two best friends know the truth. I am mostly a walking time bomb.
@Mman Endless hugs to you, dear friend. 🫂
@SunsetSnuggles You are the best. Keep on doing the work. You deserve happiness.
People think because I don’t smile in my pictures or in person that I’m rude and don’t want to be approached. Lol people rather assume then actually take the time to know me but thats life 🤣🤷🏾♂️
@jabraham96 People assume a lot by a picture and a chat board on the internet. But there are a lot of judgmental people on the site who judge based off this small sample size because they feel insignificant and insecure themselves. I wouldn’t let it bother you. If they judge off your expression without asking why you are not smiling or they tell you you should smile in your profile they are not worth knowing anyway.
Some people think I’m stuck up because I’m a loner and an introvert.
Don't worry about what others think of you: be yourself and you will draw the right one who fits your inner circle.
This type of conversation has happened all my life:
Meet a coworker, colleague, friend of a friend, barista, vendor, sales person, etc. Introductions, small talk, tete a tete. They may mention their marital status or romantic interest. I may mention mine.
Them: "You're gay? Are you sure?"
Me: (arched eyebrow) I'm pretty sure.
@Sideon, who is more uncomfortable within themselves, you or them?
Sometimes I care what others are thinking, then I'm reminded that it's none of my business what others are thinking and I go on with life 😂
Some call it bitchy, I call it healthy boundaries in a society that emphasizes the need for others to "like." Vs. self-love for oneself. 💗
@Sideon That's hilariously bizarre. You should retort, "Are you sure you're straight?" 🤦🏻♀️
@WKCuddles - No discomfort for me. I know who I am. And now they know a part of me too.
Uncle Sam has this crazy idea about me that I’m rich…lol
@bananapuddin Many people have told me that I am smart, funny, spontaneous, fun, loving, giving, accepting and forgiving. Some misconceptions about me are, if I don’t smile (that I am overly serious), due to big size many people fear that I may hurt them/mean personality (until they get to know me) and due to being nice (that I am somehow a doormat or easily manipulated). @Sideon that is awkward and very noisy line of questioning by those people. Whether you chose to be single, Gay or not is your personal business. I live by the philosophy of mind my own business (if someone wants me to know something they will tell me, no interrogation needed lol 😂). I have met many types of people like that before but learned how to better deal with them.
@Sideon Someone told me I have all male energy and implied I may not know something about myself. I was like...hmm. We've met twice... ty for the input but I'm going to continue being a woman. TYVM.
I'm sorry people question you. I found it incredibly irritating when I was told I should switch. I think it was how adamant the person was.
@stormydaycuddle Sad but too funny! 😅😂🤣I 💯 percent agree with you! Happy that you will continue to be a woman 👩🏻 Lol 😂
I don't date. But try telling that to someone else. It's beyond their comprehension. It's so hard to get through to people on that one. Most single people are obsessed with trying to find a mate day in day out. That's all they think about. I get hit with "What do you mean by that?" or "How do you find your girlfriends" or "Why don't you date?" I always get placed in a position where they expect me to explain myself. It gets really old. I don't date.
@jabraham96 Lol!😊 I would get that whole "she doesn't smile" malarkey at my job all the time. Yeah, you're right it does get old!🙄
I told one dude, who constantly bring up my "not smiling" at work on multiple occasions. I told him "Smiling isn't in my job description!" 🤨
I'll smile when I feel like it. I'll smile when I want to. I'll smile if there's something humorous to smile at or about.😊
I'll not smile simply because other worrywarts have their own "issues" with it, as long as I am doing my job (which I do) they can "shove their little smiles" down their meddlesome throats. Now, I'm smiling!😁😁😁
I think in general I just give off bad vibes. Don't know why though
People seem to think that because I'm old (81), I must be old and decrepit. I try to counter that by using photos of me climbing a tree with gaffs, or hiking in the mountains, but it doesn't seem to help much.
They also seem to think that being old, I must be politically conservative. In my case, I was quite conservative when I was 40, but I became more and more liberal as I grew older and (hopefully) wiser.
I am overloaded with misconceptions about the misconceptions people have about me
I am sure most of them are not true, hence not stating any.
Some think because I’m married that I don’t deserve or need cuddles. It’s quite the opposite as me and my wife are polar opposites when it comes to our love language. I recommend to anyone considering getting married…these are the types of conversations you need to have as it could make you infinitely closer and significantly enhance your relationship and marriage.
I've always come across as quiet and shy. I'm definitely not that. Not after a while anyway :P
Ooo... Fun topic!! @bananapuddin
People who don't really know me, or haven't see my home, car or office space tend to think I'm hella organized and professional. Lol!! Maybe with some things, but my car is basically a toybox on wheels. I have toys and fidgets all over with a mess of 'breakdown preparations' in the back too (juggling set, paracord weaving kit, a few first aid supplies, water purification straw, etc). And my home and office space currently look like a cross between Hoarders and random MacGyver-like apocalypse preparedness hubs... It's because I can see a practical use for most anything, and have some mad crafty skills - That many seem to judge with a, "That's crazy!" sort of attitude, until I finish a fix, and then they're like, "No way! That's awesome!" Just a small sampling of many misconceptions about me ~ most of which I'm fine with.
Hi everyone!
This is a thread I can relate to. I've heard from a number of acquaintances "you're so calming and laid back!"
I have to assume that I missed the day in school when "calming" was defined as "energy sapping depression covering over existential dread".
Yes. I'm calm. 😱 Go team. 👍
