You don't have to post pics like I did. Mine are too graphic and would get me.banned so I just used someone elses from internet
My worst typo came in a chat room long, long ago. I meant to type "I feel sick" but the letter D is right next to the S on the keyboard, so...
I don’t have horror stories per se, but my autocorrect often changes ‘and’ to ‘abs’ and ‘shouldn’t’ to ‘Shiism’. WTF?!?!
@Finnegan2017 definitely been there bro similar to my story one letter almost ended.a friendship lol
@MrAdmirer Yea that's crazy because the autocorrect suppose to at least use words you used before in your memory bank idk how it comes up with words we never used
Voice recognition gets me all the time, personally. Asked a Tinderfriend about having socks and it autocorrected to Valtrex. 😬
I was replying to an attorney for a closing at the real estate office, when putting my signature on the email, my phone changed my name from Holly to Jolly. At least it wasn’t to bad, lol. They actually replied thinking it was funny.
@BigGuyBigCuddle voice to text is the worst! I've gone back after hitting send and read some really weird stuff lol
My friend just now as I was texting on the ferry in Washington 😂😂😂 follow up...was a typo.
My daughter has a lot of medical problems. Serious, formerly life-threatening problems. One day, after emergency surgery, I posted on Facebook that she “did ok” in surgery, but what autocorrect told everyone was that she “died in surgery.” That was a bad day for so many reasons.
In a group chat with some former married co-workers (me being the only male), I accidentally sent “give me a sex” when I meant to type “sec”.
Luckily, we’re all close friends and had a good laugh. They were like, “A sex? Just one?”
I was like, “PLEASE don’t tell your husbands I sent that.”
They both laughed. Honest autocorrect mishap.
I can’t count how many times I’ve been autocorrected to “ducking”
Mine aren't usually so much horror stories so much as a persistent plague upon my daily life 😂
If you have ADHD, you know autocorrect is a double edged sword because your brain will move faster than your fingers can type, so without it everything would come out jibberish... But if you don't proofread (which we 🐿️ often don't) eventually your keyboard starts learning your mistyped words 🤦🏻♀️
So you send gems like these:
"So maybe it was a misc lick? Er misc lick Frank misclick Frak. Thanks autocorrect"
"How are toy? Yoy Yo Beheosneb2ydis knb es he zudbe PP You Stupid fat fingers and autocorrect effing up my life yet again."
"Well, 8 know it's hard because 8 tend to do it too. Sorry for all the 8s. Autocorrect keeps thinking all the 8s are 8s no matter how many times I delete them from the dictionary. Ffs *It's are 8s 😭🤬😭🤬 Ok I give up **I's are 8s. There. Damn it."
@SnugggleBunny OMG hilarious and slightly terrifying 😂😂
My phone won’t let me text cuss words😂😂. I have to super focus and choose the word, examples: “What in the hello” “That is some crazy shirt” “What the fork” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Years ago, I worked at an architecture company. I played a very cruel joke on my co-worker when he left his desk for a few minutes. He was working on a Word document that he was in a rush to send to a sub-contractor, or something. I went in an edited the MS Word autocorrect dictionary on his computer, changing a couple of common words to "colorful metaphors."
His reaction was hilarious when he printed out a draft to proofread it. He tried correcting the misspellings, but to no avail. (He didn't know about the ability to edit the dictionary.). He was panicking; frustrated, pulling his hair out.
This was in retaliation for an equally devious trick he played on me months earlier.
In the late 1990s I received a political fundraising letter from my State Representative. In the letter she was talking about all the great things (from her perspective) she was doing in the state legislature. Then she told her story about how she had introduced a really important piece of legislation but unfortunately 3 members of her party joined with all the members of the other party in voting against her bill.
I am sure what she MEANT to say was “thus defeating the bill” but what appeared in the letter was “thus defecating the bill”. 😂😂😂
@Sheena123 - same. I know I did not mean duck, neither as a verb or a noun, in any context at any time.
The worst MS Word horror story (possibly ever) was in a work email I received in the early 2000s. It wasn’t auto-correct, it was “track changes”.
I was working for a publicly traded, multinational company and the CEO sent a letter to all Wall Street investors and all company employees explaining our quarterly financial report.
By chance, this happened shortly after Microsoft had launched a new version of Word that by default showed “track changes” and our CEO forgot to delete the change history. When I opened the CEO’s letter (that should have been sent as a .pdf rather than a Word document) it showed all the revisions that had been made to the letter.
The CEO had co-written the letter with the CFO and there were places where the CFO was very blunt. In one place he’d described a serious problem that had “a devastating impact on our European sales”. The CEO’s notes were visible where he told the CFO to “tone it down so we don’t scare our investors”. There were different paragraphs where the CEO really watered down what the CFO had written. I can only imagine what the investors thought reading that latter and seeing how it had been revised to sound much more optimistic.
A co-worker of mine had written an apology email to someone in charge where our company had a contract with, due to a mistake on something. Unfortunately he wrote "I apologize for my incontinence" rather than "incompetence" 😂😂
AC to “ducking” felt like a gut punch. Difussed a mad so quickly.
Not quite auto correct, but water got into my cracked phone screen and a whole paragraph started being formed from the keyboard anticipating next words…and instead of responding to my friend (who was going through a tough time) with something comforting, it basically typed “good luck with that” but worse and I couldn’t make it stop 😭🙃🙃🙃🙃
I was messaging with a new massage therapist and said “I can tell you a horror story about that”
Autocorrect to “I can tell you are a whore sorry”
Not exactly auto-correct, but one of my subordinates accidentally texted me instead of her boyfriend, promising to s^ck him off so good. 🤣 She was mortified and thought I would get her fired. Instead I had a big sister talk with her about how she really didn't need to be doing that to gain his love. 👩🏼🤝👩🏻

@SunsetSnuggles - awww, that is very kind and thoughtful to have such a conversation with someone in that situation, even though her BF probably wished you had stayed out of it 😂
Back in college, a male acquaintance messaged an invitation to participate in a 5K race benefiting the university's Vietnamese Student Association. The race was being advertised as the "Banh Mi Run 5k". If you're not familiar with what Banh Mi is, it's a French-inspired Vietnamese sandwich composed of a soft fluffy baguette, charbroiled meats or ham and topped with fresh pickled veggies and herbs. Delicious, and up there in the echelons of Vietnamese foods you must try at least once. Well, in my haste to respond to the text, I typed back "Sure, count me in for the Banh Mi" but autocorrect changed it to "Sure, count me in for the bang me"
Good old dark times before "unsend" was a feature
Here's an older thread of autocorrect fails.
I asked my mom how her “dental” work went but it changed it to “anal” work … And she said “ it was great” 🫣😳😨
@Nina_Mitchell But did you ever find out how her dental work went?
