I guess I am a little divided on this. I understand the desire to promote the site and platonic cuddling in general - but I also think about how a big influx of new members would affect the moderators and how many of these people would get the whole "platonic" thing at all. Think about how many people are getting banned now, with the membership where it is. I might be worrying over nothing, but it crossed my mind.
@excellentenoch - "facepalm" was unnecessary and demeaning. Not everyone wants or needs a Linkedin profile.

I think targeted advertising is far more effective than widespread untargeted advertising. Quality over quantity.
If you want more users from your local area, you need to advertise locally - local message boards, Facebook/Meetup groups, classifieds, word of mouth. Attend local cuddle parties and groups - if there aren't any, look into hosting your own (I recommend doing training with at least one program and holding liability insurance, in an abundance of caution and to have the best chances of long term success). You can also network through semi-local/regional groups and events - for instance there's not a whole lot in Sacramento which is the closest metro to me, but San Francisco Bay Area has a very active cuddle community with regular events and is about 1.5-2 hours away.
There's a lot of free and low-cost ways to advertise at a grassroots level to get more people aware of platonic cuddling and CC, and not all of them are online or social media. And if you do use social media, often using it smarter works better than trying to use it with blunt force.
