Who are you writing to, pros or enthusiasts? Both get a lot of messages (enthusiasts are buried in them) and often have full-time jobs on top of this. Your best bet is not to expect a response and be pleasantly surprised if you get one.

if only there was some way to put a sticky on these frequently asked questions........oh wait!

As long as the person initiating a message is being polite -- in this case (the case of using this website), "If your messages are friendly and not immediately asking to cuddle, and the "About me" section of your profile is filled in, and you have a photo (or one is available on request)" -- it is valid to ask why no one responds to messages. People do this everywhere now, not just on this website.
Nothing's going to change about that though, so there's no use complaining about it either.

  • It's not valid to ask.
There should be zero expectation of someone returning your message.

  • Well, I mean, you have the right to ask, but no one owes an explanation.

I just think of it like applying for a job. 99 times out of 100, you'll hear nothing back.

@Mr_Cuddle_Bear Are you talking about asking people individually why they didn't respond, or asking generally on the forum like here? Having trouble reading into your message.

(I meant the latter, but I'm reading your message as talking about the former)

  • I was talking about the former.

As for the latter, it's fine to ask, it gets asked once a week and gets answered the same way.
