search-blocking vs. blocking

Hey, I love this site but haven't read the forums much, so if this has already been addressed somewhere please let me know!

My question/request is, is there a way to mark a profile somehow (preferably not in a way that person gets a notice) to make it not show up in your search results only? But no other things that happen when you block someone? I would find this really useful to save time on searches but really would hate to go around perma-blocking people I don't know at all. (I guess this might be an additional search flag you could turn off an on?)

  • Blocking prevents them from messaging you and you from messaging them. You can still see each other's posts in the forums and you can still view their profile.

I add notes to people's profiles to help me remember things about them - but of course you have to view the profile to see the note 😅

@cuddlefaery - You can't view their profile if they block you. A message appears saying that you've been blocked when you click on their profile.

Edit: that also applies if you block the person. A message will appear saying that you blocked them and will not allow you to view their profile until you unblock them.

@lokisama Just block them. People block here all the time for reasons other than actually wanting to block someone. The longer you're here the more evident that becomes.

  • @Mike403 maybe I had a glitch then, because I was still able to view some people I've blocked if I clicked on them from the forums. 🤔 It was quite awhile ago though and all of them have since been banned so I don't have a way to test it 😅
