Momocon Atlanta 2024

My first Momocon and I'm trying to experience everything I can. I went to Dragon Con for the first time last year and I was overwhelmed. Had no idea there was so much to do. Any advice is welcomed. I'm going as Darth Vader riding around in a black slingshot with my gf.

My last Momocon was 2019 but my advice is MAKE AN ITINERARY/SCHEDULE for each day! Whether you’re there for the full weekend or a few days or one day, make sure you have a list of guests you wanna meet, check your finances to make you have enough money for food and merchandise, and make sure you ASK before taking pictures of cosplayers. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER, not soda, not coffee, not alcohol. Check the online schedule/hours of operation to plan your day accordingly. If you have any video game tournaments you wanted to enter, sign up early. There are plenty of areas to eat and buy food inside the convention center. Also, shower and put on the deodorant each day.

But most importantly, HAVE FUN. ❤️

  • @ProjectM I like how you roll. Good advice for every day living. :) Drink water and bathe! :)

  • I happened to come to this thread out of curiosity. I don't know what a momocon is but i can imagine it's similar to a comicon. I became bewildered as to why you would need to advise to shower everyday. @ProjectM, some of the tips let me understand how busy this thing is, but what about it would make someone forget to shower?

  • @BashfulLoner Every time I see it, I think a bunch of moms are getting together.

My guess about the shower would be that there are so people there, proper hygiene is needed. :)

Over the last year or two, dry shampoo has become very popular. My thought is just to take a shower. Too busy to shower, that’s too busy! :)

@BashfulLoner it’s, unfortunately, a common thing among a subset of comic con attendees that they don’t shower or use deodorant for the entire con. By the end, there’s a general funk around the cons. Dig around any of the discussions around just about any cons and you’ll see at least one reference to showering and deodorant. Some of the cons actually include it in their official program guides. 😬

  • @CentralFLCuddle Wow..... I've only been to one con and that was Dragon Con last year. I didn't stay around long enough to find out how bad it gets. I actually plan on staying for awhile at Momocon. I plan on going as Darth Vader so hopefully the mask helps block the smell 😅

  • I used to stay behind a vendor table, so didn’t get assaulted with it too much. Hopefully, the campaign against the smells works at Momo.

  • It's almost here. Anyone else going to the Kickoff party
