@DaveFromSussex - what, pray tell, would one be "in for?"

  • While I have relatives and friends/acquaintances who smoke (cigarettes and weed) as a nonsmoker I choose to not be around them too much because of their smoking (as well other various reasons aside from them smoking😏).
I was also married to a smoker (who lied to ME about quitting all the time🙄) for 6 years of my life, combined with this and being raised up (during my childhood) in a smoke filled household...Is WHY I am a NONSMOKER now!😁

Nah, as a nonsmoker my preference of cuddling (or even doing more then cuddling) will be with🚭 NONSMOKERS! Period.🚭Whether it's cigarettes, weed, cigars, vapers or even pipes! NO SMOKERS!🚭
Plus I enjoy cuddling up with people who doesn't reek of tar and dead skunk!😖😣

    😊👍

  • That whole house was disgusting and reeked of reefer.

    UGH! 😖😣^^^

    @Vivianne Not the whole house?!😱😔
Lol!😄 One of many reasons that I prefer hosting cuddle sessions over being a guest these days.😊

I will reiterate that I have no issue with weed, edibles, gummies , or vapes , I just don't do it myself is all . I can't , period . It would be like a diabetic eating a pound cake. Even though I feel that weed itself is harmless in moderation I just can't do that to my sobriety . It doesn't matter what others think about weed or the politics of it all. It matters what I think because I'm the one whose choice it is to do it or not . Carry on and do as you wish though , I'll still cuddle and be friends with ya . It's not that deep lol

  • I've never tried it. The stuff reeks in my opinion, I can't stand the smell of it, nor being around people who are smoking it.

OTOH, I took a course on marijuana policy and law in my last year of grad school and learned quite a bit. For one thing, unlike alcohol, the stuff isn't generally harmful. I suppose it's possible that one could ingest a massive amount of edibles and possibly be at risk of depressing the nervous system so much that you stopped breathing. But just smoking or eating it ... well, you'd fall asleep long before hitting any danger levels (and of course wake up hungry). Sure, the hazards of being impaired while doing things like driving are a concern. No different than alcohol in that respect.

So even though I don't like the stuff and don't want to be around the smell of it, I see no rational reason that it should be illegal.

  • I personally don't care for it. Yeah it can be fun but it's caused me too many brain issues. I'm best off avoiding any psychotropic substances since I seem to have an adverse reaction to everything. But it's all good if other people enjoy it, none of my business really.

  • I am not anti-420.
    That is all

I had gotten a prescription years and years ago for anxiety/insomnia here in CA, and that was all I was using it for. It didn’t fix the issue but it helped. I wasn’t really interested in doing it recreationally alone; way too paranoid.

Though nowadays at least that paranoia is gone for me 😮‍💨

@Skweezer i appreciate your response and apologize for any unintended judgement. While this may not exactly make sense..I value people as individuals and do my best to find something admirable in those I am fortunate enough to interact with. When I meet people who are brilliant and yet unsatisfied with their lives, and don’t seem to make the connection between their choices and their outcomes, it saddens me. It is so easy to be damaged by the things that happen to us. I am excited to see people break free from those restraints and live fulfilled lives. I agree that there are 420 users who are incredibly successful and fulfilled, and I celebrate their successes. My comment was more related to two individuals that I met, who appeared to be unsatisfied with their lives, and unwilling to consider making a change that might improve their situations. Again, I’m deeply sorry my intentions weren’t clear in my previous message.

In addition to what @Cuddlesofcuddle stated I would add the reason most won’t even know I partook is I ask before scheduling a cuddle if they do 420 and if they don’t then I do it before they come then shower, wash hair and brush my teeth. I also never smoke inside because I do not want smoke in my house or hotel room. This is common courtesy that I would hope those who do not partake do as well. I do not fire up everyday, never while working, and it is purely because it relaxes me without the side effects of alcohol which I avoid.

I understand some find the smell off-putting as I hate the smell of cigars and cigarettes. I understand someone like @pmvines avoiding it as an addict. I understand a lot of reasons why people might not like it—I hate the smell of someone who has been drinking because it smells when you are close, so I get it. But to say someone’s life became a mess because of it is inaccurate because if that occurred they were self-medicating because of other issues just like someone who drinks too much is self-medicating. It is not the cause but a symptom of something else. And to assert that people who smoke have no ambition or are lazy is a statement born of ignorance as several highly successful people now and throughout history have smoked weed regularly.

The only reason weed was made illegal back in the 1930s was it became the drug of choice for African-Americans made popular by jazz musicians so it was an easy mark when a little known Federal Department known as the Federal Bureau of Narcotics had its budget slashed and to recoup the cuts and make the department relevant again the commissioner of that department began the Reefer Madness campaign to demonize the substance, connect it with crime, and use the boogeyman—black Americans—as the perpetrators of said crimes on white Americans. Weed was never evil or bad in and of itself, the policies banning it were, as they were foundationally racist and a waste of taxpayer money.

With all this being said, I do tell potential cuddlers that I use 420 and that I will share if they use too. I would say 4 out of 10 share with me before our cuddle, another 40% don’t partake or like it but won’t because they are tested at work but don’t care if I do, 10% will say I don’t do weed but do you mind if they drink, and only 10% are adamantly opposed. I never cuddle the adamantly opposed because they tend to come across so negatively about it that they seem like they are shaming me. And that’s fine, there are plenty of cuddlers to choose from. It is after all very simple—if you don’t like something, move along. I mean someone who advertises that they like to cuddle
while watching tv is a no go for me, but I would t start a thread over it proclaiming my anti-tv stance.

If you do 420 for a session be up front about it and if it is a deal killer for you politely decline to cuddle the 420 user.

  • I definitely would say alcohol is more likely to cause impaired judgment and perhaps a crossing of the lines. If anything, weed is more likely to make me pass out. It more or less dulls any tendency to push lines.

  • Since the "pro-420" thread was taken down, I'll touch on what another user and myself were mentioning on it, last night...

Substances of any sort can be used to lower inhibitions and should be used with extreme caution if you are with someone new.

On my profile, I ask that anyone who cuddles with me arrives and remains sober for our cuddle, so they can give proper consent.

Aside from this, I have had people try to pressure me into drinking, as well as drug use, during cuddles. While I believe each of the scenarios were an honest attempt at fun, one should never pressure anyone into things like this, especially someone they don't know, especially in a situation where boundaries and consent are so important.

Stay smart, respectful, and safe out there, peeps!

  • Why make “anti” threads? If you don’t like it, don’t do it! It’s pretty insulting! I don’t drink, but I wouldn’t make a thread bashing people that do, this world is full of different people who like different things.

  • @Matt462 The OP very clearly and respectfully stated the answer to your question in their original post:

@Vivianne posted: "Yes, I admit, I stole this idea from the 420 thread. The folks that were responding there are proponents of it and I didn’t want to harsh their mellow."

There was a pro "420" thread last night for those who are fans. The mods took it down for unrelated reasons. If you see any "bashing", feel free to report it, and the mods will deal with it appropriately.

@Matt462 - I made the thread to have a conversation on the topic. As you can see, the opinions have been varied, thoughtful, and the conversation has been respectful. The “anti” title was a play on another thread that has since been deleted. If you aren’t anti, you can easily not engage in the topic. I don’t respond to topics I have nothing in common with, and would expect others to do the same. Offending anyone was not my intent.

  • I just think using the title “anti” is very negative, if you are anti- anything and post about it, you should know that you are offending people.

  • I agree @Matt462 ”anti” projects negativity and while users were not bashed it is a way of shaming. If someone posts an anti thread about pros or people’s weight it would be taken down. The fact of the matter is the 420 was a fun thread about those that imbibe and if you don’t that’s fine, but to run out and make an anti thread is unnecessary, mean and divisive. I understand preferences but I don’t understand hate. God knows there are plenty of threads where people discuss things that I don’t like but I do not make a thread to bash that activity, particularly one that some people use to deal with anxiety or other issues. Just wildly thoughtless to do any anti thread unless it is an anti-hate thread or something of that ilk.

Oh FFS. @CharlieBear or other mod, please feel free to delete this thread.

  • I've only done this twice. Once, way back in time before the dark ages, I consumed one in its entirety. About the only thing that happened was I was really hungry afterwards. The other was in Amsterdam with an edible cupcake (had half after being told a whole was way too much for one person), and likewise, I felt nothing, though at least that time I wasn't hungry afterwards. I do like the smell for some reason, but until it's OK from a federal standpoint, it could jeopardize future career potential, so won't partake in the U.S.

  • @Vivianne You started a respectful thread that remained respectful and involved no hate. People can try to gaslight but it doesn't make it so. If the mods saw an issue, they would have said so, not joined in the conversation you began. :3 Totally get if you want your thread taken down to avoid the needless drama others bring, though.

  • Hi Ll, I’ll lock it. Sorry, me hiding that other thread makes the title of this one more “anti” than it was meant to be.
