You don't. You don't know the entire situation other than what they told you. They can appeal the ban themselves if they believe they were banned unfairly.
Yes they can appeal it. I am sure the mods would hear what you had to say if you had something to support them being reinstated. The mods are all reasonable.
@Kris347 Those banned can appeal their ban, they are given 1 chance to make that appeal, but other site members cannot advocate for a banned site member to be allowed to return.
