Why did you start platonic cuddling?

edited May 2024 in General

I remember what got me into platonic cuddling. I was in my early 20s and had gone through a really bad break up. My best friend stuck by my side and tried to help me. He did all he could. One day he decided I just needed a hug and wrapped his arms around me. 3 hours later I had cried so much that I didn't have any tears left. I felt better and like I had confronted the pain I felt. I thanked him for a week afterwards.

Since you're here and read my little story, would you like to share one of your own? I'd love to hear it ^w^

Why did I start? When I learned about it I was ecstatic. You mean I could get all the affection and intimacy I crave without having to spend a fortune "dating", only to be told "lets just be friends (without cuddling of course)" instead? You mean I can get this to happen without risk of pregnancy, STD's, and jealousies? Wonderful! Sign me up! At least that was the initial thought :)

  • I wish I had some amazing story or something.

But to be honest, it was just loneliness.

  • @1_teddybear once I heard that there was a community that is focused on cuddles, I had a very similar thought xD

@DaveFromSussex loneliness is a terrible feeling. It's something I strive to prevent my friends from feeling everyday. It's also a valid reason to start platonic cuddling. I hope you don't still feel that way. And I hope that if you do then we can help make things better for you ^w^

  • My grandma and parents used to cuddle me a lot when I was little. Me and my besties sometimes cuddled going to sleep... Cuddling was always my favorite thing to do but then some people didn't want to "just cuddle" so then I went through long patches where I only occasionally cuddled in relationships.

Well, I saw the news reports of the woman who started her own cuddle business back in 2013 in Portland, Oregon and was intrigued.
It wasn't until just before the pandemic that I was talking to someone on a forum and we kinda hit it off chatting. They offered to pay me to drive down and cuddle them platonically. Sounded like a good idea. I did two 6 hour long sessions, ate pizza with them, binged watched cooking shows, and helped massage a cramp out. It was a lot of fun and I was hooked.
I did several more sessions with others and started platonically cuddling my trusted friends too when we hung out.

    🫂🥰🫂

  • I housesit and ended up "trapped" in a sit with my host, who is a constant - and loud - talker... It left my nerves so jangled that all I could think is that I needed a 2 hour hug. I knew professional cuddling existed, so I googled and found out about CC enthusiasts. My first cuddle was so patient and understanding and it was exactly what I needed!

  • @LadyVel I'm a little jealous you got so many cuddles in your youth, lol. But it sounds like it lead you to a happy life thus far ^w^

@SBG that's a rough situation to be stuck in. I'd need a long hug afterwards as well. It sounds like the situation lead you to a wonderful experience though ^w^

  • A lot had changed in my life and I wasn’t getting enough touch in my life, so I became an enthusiast cuddler. Once my cup was full and I needed more work hours due to some changes, that’s when I applied for pro. I’d rather be cuddling than doing another job. I understand what it feels like to not get enough touch, and I thoroughly enjoy helping others fulfill that need, one platonic cuddle at a time. :)

  • @CuddleHugs01234 sounds like you and I have a similar desire. I've always been the type of person to try to improve the day/mood of those around me. Cuddling is one way to do that. I became a Cuddler so that I could help improve the day/mood of those that need it ^w^

  • Everyone needs comfort at the oddest times in their lives. It improves mental health

  • Cus I like it

  • @KuddleKingg I agree with that. And mental health is very important. I'm glad others see that as well ^w^

@cuddlefaery thank you for the boost ^w^

    @pmvines thats always a valid reason ^w^

  • Because I went undercover for an anti-cuddle organization.

  • @TheFunCartel you mean to tell me that you're a Cuddle Cop?

  • Worse than that. I’m a spy.

  • A Cuddle Spy? That's so much worse xD

  • @TheFunCartel Getting cozy with the enemy, are we?

My dad passed away suddenly in another country and I was alone without any physical touch or someone to hug, cry and grieve. The person I first cuddled with hugged me long enough for me to finally feel an emotional release.

  • @roxy888 I’m sorry about your loss. Hugs 🤗

  • I started cuddling to help with my stress. I was in a challenging fast paced medical program. Cuddling helped me relax around my finals each semester. I loved having someone to vent to and cuddle away my frustrations, the warm hugs healed me.

  • @roxy888 I'm sorry for your loss. That pain is never comfortable but I'm glad you were able to find someone/something that was able to help you heal and process the pain ^w^

@alexloveshugs cuddles have an awesome healing ability, both physical and mental. I'm glad you were able to find a calm during a challenging storm ^w^
