Just an FYI - The Sun spot that was producing all the solar storms about 11 days ago is coming back. The sun rotates 360 degrees about every 2 weeks. The sunspot (region 3664) has continued shooting flares into space but away from Earth for the past week and a half but it will soon be pointed at Earth again starting around Friday. If you missed the light show last time you will likely get a second chance this weekend. Also the potential for GPS and satellite communication disruptions.

    I know how you could come to the conclusion, but how do we know it's flaring over there and know it will still be happening?

    @BashfulLoner - Great question. In February 2020, the European Space Agency launched a solar orbiter which circles the Sun and sends back data to Earth. The orbiter has observed some massive coronal mass ejection (CME) events while the Sun spot was facing away from Earth so it had not died down at all.

    Oh really, i didn't know that happened. I felt like that be the only way but didn't realize we could pull it off.

    @BashfulLoner - At just 4 years old, it is still relatively new and because it was launched by ESA instead of NASA, it didn’t get as much media attention in the U.S. it is a truly remarkable piece of technology and arguably more important than some of the better known deep space probes we have launched over the past couple of decades.
