I see this a lot So how does it go if they take a deposit and no show they keep the deposit? I am not doing it sorry move on
But what if they do show?
@jbill Put "I Will Not Pay Deposits" in your profile. Posting it on a forum is useless.
@jbill Just find a pro who doesn't ask for deposits. What's the problem?
To answer your question, a pro who takes a deposit and refuses to give it back after a no-show gets banned.
Now I have one for you - a client books with a pro who does not ask for a deposit, then the client doesn't show up? What happens to the client who just wasted the pro's time and maybe cost her a booking with a paying customer? Because this happens all the time. It's why they ask for deposits.
@WriterGF Thank you for posting your question because I feel fairly sure your scenario happens way more often than the one OP posted. Flaky unreliable people everywhere.
Everybody has the right to make their own choice when it comes to which pro they choose. Just never been sure why people see the need to announce their preferences to complete strangers on the Internet.
I realize OP is new to the site. The deposit debate is not. We've all heard from people who don't want to pay one 100 times. There's nothing new to say.
If the pro is a no show, is it easy to get the money back. If it is, then it should not be a problem. I have to agree with the pros on this. Deposit so the client show. More likely the client does not show than a pro not showing.
More likely the client does not show than a pro not showing.
The side that gains financially from the interaction will always be the one less likely to ghost.

And that is why I don't pay a deposit unless the price is platonic.
A prepay deposit?? Oh, that's so '90s, dahling. 🙄 Everybody uses postpay deposits nowadays, although obviously that does a require a quick jaunt in the time machine.
Remember when we had to pay deposits for VCR tapes
If you think your pro is a potential thief, why would you want to be in her arms?
Here we go again
