Mileage filter doesn't work

Mine is set at 5 miles, but a search pulls up women as far as 500 miles away, with many 50-60 miles out.

Actually, it does work. I tried the same search as you (within 5 miles of Denver) the results show as you said, many 50 - 60 miles with at least one outlier at 500 or so.

The thing is, all those results have 2 locations listed in their profile "X location" and Denver.

  • Are you including or excluding pros from your your search?

What @Mr_Cuddle_Bear said may be happening to you and I think especially if you're including pros who may have more of a tendency to have more than one location on their profile.

  • I originally thought this thread was about making profile pictures appear younger.

    Honest mistake.

  • @BrianOcean I thought it was about changing car oil filters.

  • I wonder what percent of people here actually use miles. It's just the US isn't it?

@Mr_Cuddle_Bear is wise to have replicated your search for you...people can have two locations, and beyond that, depending on your search parameters, those who were in your location recently, but are no longer, will also show up.

For instance, I'm in Wyoming, but often cuddle in Colorado. I add that as a second location until I come back home. If I left six days ago, and your search parameters are for one week, I will still show up in the results, because I was online there in the past week. But Colorado will not show as a location anymore, because that's not my current status.

Not quite the same issue as the OP was having, but worth mentioning is that the distance filter is a straight line between two points and does not figure in the actual driving distance between the two points. Example: If there is a body of water between two points that are just across the water, but the only way to get there (other than flying, swimming, or teleporting) is to drive around the body of water, the distance shown may be inaccurate.

  • I've seen many errors on the search filters. People who were online less than 24 hours ago got excluded from search when I have selected "today" as the time frame. They aren't hidden from search, as they appear when I search for a longer time frame (e.g., a week). They also aren't always ordered chronologically. Take home message is that the search filter isn't perfect. But it's probably good enough for our purposes.

  • @JWestfall if they were banned they wonโ€™t show up anymore. Likewise if they delete they join the disappeared.

  • @TheFunCartel
Right, banned/deleted/deactivated profiles can't show up.

Profiles can also be active, but also hidden from search ("muted").

My comments above only refer to people who are active on the site and not muted.

  • Have you looked on the board to see if they are โ€œOut of Officeโ€?
