Over the years, I've grown to love Oscar the Grouch (who was kind to kids and his pets). He's not cruel, he's just not happy, like some people I've had in my life.
Statler and Waldorf, the cranky balcony guys on The Muppet Show. They like nothing, not even each other, but were humorously cantankerous.
(Jim Henson was a genius.)

I have to go with @pmvines. He is so not afraid to speak his truth even when he knows he is in a grouchy mood. What you see is what you get with him.

Oscar is a good one.

However, I can't imagine there's a bigger grouch now than Cookie Monster ever since the show's producers started making him eat vegetables.

@TxTom - They probably were thinking that since the show is intended for children, they can't be teaching them that it's okay to overeat junk food.

@gem7 I guess @pmvines qualifies as a character, but my intention wasn't aimed toward members here. I don't want people adding others here in unkind ways. But if PMVines was a Muppet, I'd say he's more Gonzo than Grouch.

My favorite grouch is the one and only Archie Bunker. Watched All In The Family every week and he was always grouchy.

@4cuddles yes! The Grinch! (I loved the backstory provided in the Jim Carrey movie.)
@gem7 Carrol O'Connor played Archie perfectly, but my father was too much like Archie, a horrible bigot and always talking down to my mother, to like the show.

I didn’t watch much of the series, lost interest over time, but the best character on supernatural imo was Bobby Singer.

@starrynitecuds Yes, Carol O'Connor played that role perfectly. I understand why you didn't watch, in fact the show sometimes left a sour feeling inside of me because I just felt there were people actually like that.

I once read "every family had an Archie," which is why (that phrasing sounds awkward) the show was so popular. It not only gave them hope for their own Archie to be a better person, but made them not feel so alone.

For me this one is easy. My favorite grouch is from Disney. I have not seen part 2 yet but the original was outstanding.
