I like Ice Cream but my favorite frozen treat is Whit’s frozen yogurt in Franklin, TN. Even their vanilla is better than nearly any flavor of anyone else’s ice cream.
I'm told I'm gross for it, but I really like lavender and rose flavors. When I used to live in LA, Super King market was my go to because they had a pistachio with rose and orange water, it was amazing.
But my ultimate favorite is Ben and Jerry's Salted Caramel Core. It's almost indecent.

@warmlyhelena If I remember correctly, one of the earliest recipes for ice cream came from a roman cookbook. The recipe involved rose water and snow. I don't really remember the exact details though so I could be off.
That's so cool! I never considered it but I bet the history of ice cream is interesting (at least to someone like me).
I've been vegan for over seven years, but grew up like the rest of America. 😅 So this will be a mix of vegan ice cream and regular ice cream answers, given some of the questions are about childhood. 😊

As a vegan: - Peanut Butter Half Baked Non-Dairy (Ben & Jerry's) - Chocolate Cookies 'N' Cream (So Delicious) - Strawberry Cheesecake (from this local shop in Canada; we ate it beside a lake and it was heaven)
What is your favorite local spot?
There aren't any local ice cream shops near me, as I live very rural and remote. The few places I've popped in and asked if they had anything non-dairy, did not...even sorbet! 😔
What is a non-local location you would travel to get you ice cream fix?
Mm, it's just the grocery store, but it's 80 miles away. 🤣
I never even heard of a cake cone. Is it just the cheap crusty McDonald's-style cone, or are they supposed to actually have cake and ice cream, both?
I didn't like waffle cones growing up because they weren't sweet, and always leaked. They are better now in both respects, but I go for a cup, almost without fail.
Before going vegan:
When I was little, I always got gummy bears in with my bubblegum ice cream. They would get so cold and hard. 😄
At home, we had canned peaches we made ourselves, and froze them with all the syrup...we would defrost them and have them over French Vanilla ice cream, and it was absolute heaven.
At Baskin Robbins, I was obsessed with the Reese's Peanut Butter sauce, ermagersh!
At Cold Stone, I loved the brownies and raspberries.
As a vegan:
I mostly eat storebought ice cream, which already has things like cookie dough mixed in. I'm not big on toppings, at a shop...maybe raspberries or cookie dough.

Almost anything home made. You get luxury quality ice cream of any flavor you can think of.
My top two that I’ve made are a caramel pecan praline and cream, and a Dutch chocolate that blows commercial out of the water.

Little OT for all lactose intolerant people: Ferrero has launched their vegan Nutella. I tasted it and I think they made a very good job being close to the original one. They make me believe in people.
Little less-off topic: a friend of mine once told me to put a spoon of hot Nutella as topping on the ice-cream. Then you can die happy. Warning: if you heat the Nutella directly on the spoon, remember not to lick the spoon until it is cold, burnt tongue or lips can prevent you to enjoy your ice-cream.
