Dang that's a huge jump for something so minor. It's crazy how they work. I just had my car her hydrolocked this last Mother's Day from a flood. Car should have been totaled but instead the insurance company gave me the run around and started throwing the Out of Network BS due to the delearship I had it at and was telling me I'd have to cover the costs of repairs. Asked them to send me to someone that is In Network but they don't have anyone that feels with Flooded cars. So how's that my problem. Needless to say it took them almost 3 months to pay, then the delearship took another month. In the meantime it caused me lots of money on rental not to mention a lot of stress. So why even pay for insurance. .it's just crazy how it's gotten so out of hand because of all the bogus claims and disasters I'm sure. It's just so crazy expensive in general, then having to deal with all the BS. 🙄😤😡
@mike403 Insurance is regulated at the state level. Many states have a “Department of Insurance” but some may call it an “Office” or some other term. The bottom line is insurance laws vary greatly from state to state. Then, within a state, individual insurance companies will have different policies that all meet the letter of the law because often times the law is fairly broad and it gives the insurance companies some flexibility in how they meet the state guidelines.
Another reason to handle minor cosmetic issues "privately" is to avoid a "Karma" on Carfax.
@JohnR1972 let's not forget that many state government agencies employ from the c-suite in the very companies they are governing. Definitely lots of back-scratching there. ("The best way to skim the edges of a law is to help write it.") @Sooson I think many repair and even oil change shops report to Carfax, along with police agencies. We're screwed. Big Brother is always watching.
In MA, we have specific required coverages when we don’t own our vehicle outright. Thankfully, my insurance isn’t too crazy, but I plan on reducing some of the coverage options once I pay off my car loan.
@starrynitecuds 🎯🎯🎯 for the win! I was having a discussion with someone a couple weeks ago about that exact subject. It is known as “regulatory capture” when there is a revolving door between an industry and the government agency tasked with regulating the industry. I knew this was common practice with Big Pharma and the FDA but I had not looked at the insurance industry.
When I started looking up the people who serve as insurance commissioners across various states, guess where nearly all of them came from?
@Mike403 @FutureHeart2023
Still doesn’t make it relevant to anyone here.
@JohnR1972 I'm betting it's not McDs...
@SeekerInVA - So you're saying that we should only make threads about cuddling and no other topic?
@SeekerInVA
What does this have to do with cuddling?
I agree. This thread about insurance has absolutely nothing to do with cuddling.
However, just like many threads not about cuddling, I find it interesting and some of the comments to be informative.
It's easy enough to skip past any threads that don't personally interest you.
Maybe we should just post things that only one person would see as fun or informative.
@TxTom Lol
My way won't work for a lot of people, but I drive a used Chevy Impala. No one wants my car, including me, lol. It is the least stolen make of car, I've heard. I pay less than $300 a year just for coverage for the other person. I am not that worried about having a wreck that is my fault, but I am very worried about how other people drive.
If someone totals my car I have enough savings to buy another used car that no one wants. I was able to save this amount of money by mostly eating at home, having a flip phone only, only buying clothes that I need, not traveling or doing any decorating. I am lower middle income.
I feel for ya because I know it's a hard choice.
No one wants my car, including me, lol.
@achetocuddle 😂
@achetocuddle You are a very smart person. Livi g within your means is a lost art these days.
@gem7 Living within your means is considered totally out-of-style and nerdy, lol, but no one I know is gonna give me money or let me move in with them just because I mess up financially
@lonelytauros LOL.
@gem7 I just read your idea to post only what one person would think is fun and informative. By jove, I think you've got it! (sarcasm and LOL)
Compared to the price of pro cuddle sessions, you got a bargain 🤣
