Hello, what steps do i take when i got a fake $100 bill after a cuddle?
I don’t know who it came from at all. I wish i paid more attention. Having this in my possession bothers me
If you think it's counterfeit, file a report with your local police, or with the US Secret Service.
Definitely a matter for the police.
If you think it probably came from a client, just tell that to the police. Consider talking to the client first: it's much more likely that they are just a victim like you, rather than a forger.
How do you know it's fake?
Why do you think it's fake? Picture-wise for a 2006, it looks fine but it's also not next to a normal bill from that time frame to compare it to and it's hard to zoom to check fine details that your camera may or may not have picked up.
For a 2006 $100 bill... ▪︎ Check for fibers - should have visible fibers in the fiber paper. ▪︎ Run your nail over the presidents clothes, it should be textured from the raised printing, especially on Franklin's shoulder.
▪︎ Hold it up to the light: 1. On the left side, check for a visible security thread which should read "USA 100" and glow pink under UV light. 2. On the right side examine the watermark of Benjamin Franklin's faint image visible when held to light.
▪︎ Also look for the color-shifting ink on the "100" in the lower right corner that changes a little from copper to green when tilted.
▪︎ The building details on the back should be fairly crisp and not muddied (see my example real is left and fake is right).
▪︎ Also, can check for fine microprinting on the bill that is clearly readable under magnification on Franklin's clothes and within the bottom left 100.
Things you can do besides checking security features: The counterfeit pens turn dark on fake bills/paper but show light on any real fiber paper (or paper sprayed with a chemical that hides the fake paper... So be careful). Use a small blacklight, blacklight pen, or blacklight bill checker (including picture of the bill checker but mine barely lights up). FYI, newer 100s don't show as bright as other bills.

You can report it to the secret service so they can investigate where it came from. However, you will still be out of the money. They don't replace it with real money.
What to do with a fake bill:
If you receive a fake bill, immediately report it to your local police department or bank, as they will submit the suspected counterfeit currency to the U.S. Secret Service (their site says to contact local police or your bank now, not them directly).
If you know how you recieved it/who gave it to you: Do not return the bill to the person who gave it to you, and try to record any identifying information about them if possible.
Limit the handling of the note. Carefully place it in a protective covering, such as an envelope.
List the date recieved (if known), or range of dates of when it could have been recieved to help narrow things down for authorities.
Sadly you are out of that money if it is fake. I would check with my bank first and let them know you think you recieved a fake bill and ask them if they can verify it.
