Earn respect and you will feel happier and stronger.

This advice starts with the (wo)man in the mirror. You haven't earned respect here with the constant insults toward almost everyone. You feel entitled to constantly talk down to people and insist they should just respect you because you say you're 74 and you say you have life experience?
At 74, you should know that does NOT work.
Learn how to guide, how to mentor, how to give advice to those who want it.

@NikkiFM Older does earn a little respect, until it demonstrates that you shouldn’t bother.

But, basically, older simply means you have either the intelligence, knowledge, skills, toughness, and/or luck to have survived.

I listen to anyone that might know stuff I don’t.

I try not to dismiss people based on their (adult) age, but if you survived a decade, or more, longer than I have on this toxic world, through this insane society, and in this delusional culture, it gets you that extra bit of my quiet attention.

  • Regarding name-calling, and posts that demonstrate attacks on people's character or intelligence based on their age or other group they belong to:

Flagging a post before or after engaging in the same kind of behavior that you are flagging creates a challenging task for moderators.

Please remember that flagging is not a way to request moderators' help in winning an argument. We are not going to take sides, but we will respond to violations of forum rules.

I personally find it unfortunate when a thread contains useful content but also contains more violations than can be reasonably expected to be dealt with individually.

As a member of this community, I'm asking people to self-moderate. As a moderator, I'm locking this thread to prevent further name-calling.
