Are You Lonely, Miserable, Depressed or Plain Old Sad? This Is Worth A Look

edited December 2024 in General

A lot of people have been posting in the last few days about having a rough time. This is normal for the time of year, not that it makes things any less ghastly for those affected.

I won't try to cheer you up, not least because the cure for general sadness is fully understood. [Simply play on a tropical beach with a person who thinks you're wonderful and some puppies.] This won't exactly cheer you up, but it will make you feel a little better.

Well, This Is Shit

Agree, been seeing a lot of post about sadness and depression.
How we can pivot with it, but also feel the lesson of it so that we can have more coping skills in our repertoire to acknowledge it, understand why it is manifesting and how to best handle it.

Gabor Mate speaks briefly here on it.

  • I love Gabor Mate

  • He’s on my list for school and now work 😊 and he’s quite interesting.

SAD lights for in home therapies and some red light therapy is covered by insurance and I felt it works for me, in addition to other methods of healing and therapies.

I believe the answer may be adding selfless behavior to your xmas list. My niece needs a car, I'm a musician with lots of instruments and tools for recording.

I'm selling it all to get her in that car, so that she can do for herself.

    What lessons will she learn?

She may learn that everyone isn't against her.

She may learn, that the biggest value is empathy and that the materials of love are people based.

That family means more than the same last name.

Give of yourself, look at all the plastic, wood and blinking metal things all around us that we value, it all pales next to a genuine smile.

If you are feeling bad, get out now and force yourself to be kind to someone. You will forget about you when you do this and your world will change.

Although there are exceptions, for most part, we can cure ourselves.

  • I’m pretty sure we are supposed to be hibernating right now. Can’t be sad if you’re asleep 😂

Oh, if only that were true.

  • When bears prepare to hibernate, they have to plug their 💩. Bears know that they have to eat stones, clay and sticks in order to create a blockade to BMs. Their heartbeat slows to about 10 beats per minute during hibernation as well.

  • Ps. I like nature documentaries if I'm feeling stressed. I don't skew towards depression usually, but anxiety can be a problem.

  • A quote to share that is making the rounds on socials recently.

"Pain changes shape, but it never disappears. You can’t control what hurts or breaks you, but you can control how you choose to move forward. Fight for what you love, because no one else will do it for you. Every moment in your life is an opportunity to change who you are. Don’t define yourself by what you lost, but by what you do with what’s left." Keanu Reeves

This quote beautifully captures the resilience of the human spirit. It reminds us that while pain and loss are inevitable, our pause, reflection and response to them defines our journey.
