Coming down from the Oxytocin high

Had an awesome time with all the cuddle peeps this weekend in Denver. But the inevitable crash came after the rush of oxytocin over the weekend. Last night was not an easy night. What do you do to compensate from the inevitable good vibes going away and reality setting in?

  • Is that kind of like an adrenaline crash?

    Whiskey helps.

  • Hang in there, Spud.

I have a lot of thoughts about this. Too specific and personal to write about here.

Reach out via DM if you want to discuss.

  • Can fully relate, @Spud424 . The struggle is real.

On a separate note, it was nice to meet you in person!

The withdrawal alone isn’t the intense part. Wait until you get a high off this then that same person does something to spike stress hormones, disappears, then repeat that cycle in a confusing manner a couple times. Your head will be messed up for a long time. Or so I hear.

  • @Spud424 yeah I'm with you! I should of thought ahead and figured a way to compensate for whats happening to us both. Also, It was so fun to hang out with you a bunch this past weekend. I fully enjoy your zest for life and I think we had a great time.

I was so hoping with the winter storm my flight was going to be cancelled so I could just hang around another day to adjust. Of course United Airlines stepped up and made dang sure my flight schedule was on time 🤣

Anyways , feeling the same as you apparently, and was mentally ,not ready for work challenges after that sublime weekend! Ugh!

  • I hear you, man. Thats very relatable. I don't have a good way to deal with it, but it's never worse than how I felt when I needed cuddles

  • Geez, the way the other half lives really is puzzling to me.

  • Cuddle drop is not uncommon after an especially intense session and you’re definitely not alone in your experience. I’ve even experienced this as a provider. You can put together an aftercare kit of all the things you might need after a particularly intense cuddle. This can include a stuffed animal, a blanket, your favorite tea, some chocolate, a good book or movie, or anything that you think will keep you cheery or even as those intense chemicals leave your body.

I feel for you, OP. Just viewing the pictures gave me an oxytocin rush--- I can't even imagine what it would be like to let alllllll of that contact go!!!

Maybe just bring the memories gently to mind, and re-experience it with gratitude that you actually got to experience it? :) It looks like that was an AMAZING experience!!!

@Spud424 I have had a different bit of a crash but totally relatable. I’m still kind of “ping pongy” bouncing around like a pin ball machine. Feeling all sorts of feels. Processing all sorts of info and new connections.

Also, Kassandra sent this out to the workshop attendees and I think it’s a great list!!

    Sending hugs my friend. 😊☃️❄️

I'm not sure that I can relate because after a while I tend to feel a little punchy and want my space. So it can be a relief to me when I am back on my own and in my fortress of solitude again.

Hahahaha @pmvines “fortress of solitude” and in the meantime you still have multiple cuddle sessions lined up with some lovely humans as well as CHEESECAKE!!!! 💚💚💚

    Maybe I’m missing the cheesecake.

I know I am working forward with some things whilst I am gradually settling back into myself and gathering all of my parts.

I’ve got some extra exercise built in…
    A session scheduled for massage…
    Some energy work…
Some group discussion around the weekend…
Some new ideas flowing about possible cuddle events…
A hair appointment with my stylist…
A coffee excursion with my Mom and daughter…
    Some journaling…
    Dinner & drinks with a friend…
    And Community Connecting.

We have to remember how much we matter and that WE are worth taking care of ourselves. We don’t need to wait around for someone else to have the time or inclination to fully take care of us. It’s OUR JOB!! ❤️❤️❤️
“I smile and I feel no disgrace with who I am” we get to reclaim that. Rewrite that story.

Sending you all love and light and positive vibes.

We matter. WE ARE THE LUCKIEST!!!

    HUGS<<<

A cheesecake a day keeps the blues away.

Honestly, I have learned that feeling good is worse, because of that crash.

I do my best to accept my steadily miserable experience, because temporary pleasure not only costs more, but it reminds me of all the normalcy I lost.

  • @CharlesGrove
I can relate. Every time I love somebody there's always the mix of excitement along with a punch in the gut because the grief from loss always ends up being what sticks once it ends

@pmvines I say it kindly and jokingly, but mean it seriously: “No thank you, but thank you. I am afraid I gave at the office.”

  • Wow, this thread was really eye opening to me. I'm new here and came out of desperation to make money because of some health problems. I never thought about the other person having a crash afterwards ( I might've actually had that crash too, just didn't realize it was from that...) It breaks my heart that there are so many lonely people out there, just craving touch! It's not supposed to be this way :'( Thank you @sillysassy for the awesome reminder, I love that song so much ( I just found out I wasn't understanding all of the lyrics correctly! haha) Thanks to everyone else who chimed in with the great suggestions also. Everyone give yourself a big hug from me tonight. Let's say some prayers for eachother if you are inclined to... life is just dang rough, the joy and happiness seems so very unequally dispersed sometimes...

  • This thread is crazy! It's like you all are living in a totally alternate universe and I'm so curious/jealous! @Homesteader what pictures are you talking about? Where can I find said pics?

  • I believe this these are the pictures you are looking for:
