Hosting at a hotel

I'm an enthusiast who hasn't typically been in a position to host, but I'm planning to go on vacation this summer by myself, and I'm considering possibly scheduling a session with a pro at the hotel I'll be staying at.

When I made my reservation, I booked for only one guest (i.e. myself). On Priceline, the room was billed as "sleeps 2," and the price wasn't any different for one or two guests. But when I got a confirmation email, it specified the room was single-occupancy only and that I could be charged for additional guests.

Is this a frequent occurrence that pros and/or enthusiasts deal with when arranging for a session at a hotel? If so, what would the best practice for this situation be? Ask the hotel to clarify and draw attention to myself, knowing that booking a session is still hypothetical anyway? Roll the dice with trying to be discreet?

I travel a lot for work, and will host occasionally when I cuddle on the road.

I’ve never seen this to be an issue and personally would just ignore it. I also wouldn’t stay at a hotel that would pull that.

That being said if it bugs you just tell the hotel at check-in that you’ve got a friend visiting and ride it out. Even if they stayed overnight I doubt anything will come of it.

I have never seen that before. That’s weird. What chain of hotel was this? I’ve been booking and hosting at hotels for over 6 years and this is new to me

As someone who travels a lot also, I'm with @Sheena123 comment. What hotel chain is this?

I will say in my experience booking thru 3rd party sites tend to do odd things to the reservation. For me, I find just picking a hotel brand and booking directly thru their site solves a lot of concerns. Most of them have pretty good rewards / savings that way.

Thanks for your responses. The hotel is a Red Roof Inn. I fully admit that I don't have much experience booking hotels. I've always gone with AirBNBs and hostels -- places where I wouldn't feel comfortable bringing extra guests in any event. I knew third-party sites could make certain components of the reservation less flexible, but I didn't anticipate this. Sounds like this isn't much of a thing under most circumstances.

Hotels seem to be more flexible with other people being in the room.

Hotels never care about daytime visitors. (It's perfectly common, for example, to conduct job interviews and business meetings in hotel rooms.)

But they do care about people staying overnight if only for administrative reasons. If the hotel burns down at 2am they want to be able to answer the fire chief correctly when asked "how many guests?".

Always book directly with the hotel. The big name booking sites are by far the most expensive way of doing it.

a rather demeaning comment I think . As a person who has family in the hospitality industry and having friends employed also , I’m sure they would find that quote agitating to hear . 😮
They care just as much for people during the day as they do overnight !!!

That would substantially add to the cost of the session. There are also situations where a cuddler requires that I taxi / uber / lyft her to my place, then pay her for travel time. @ChemicalBob , the "Can Be" field in someone's profile should say some combination of Host, Guest, Public which (ideally) should tell you if a cuddler can host before you even reach out to her. If a cuddler lists "Host" and then tells me she is unable to host, I politely advise her that her profile is misleading.

But in general, I find that pro cuddlers pretty much use that field as intended, and I like it. For example, I'm not interested in public cuddles, so I screen out anyone who only lists Public. I actually wish the site also included "Virtual Only" as an option, so I could screen out those as well. To each their own, but for me a Zoom/Facetime call isn't cuddling.

Travel fees -- again, in an ideal world -- should be disclosed in the profile as well. Some cuddlers are really great about this, and will explicitly say what distance incurs a travel fee -- say over 20 miles from their home, or something. But of course, we don't live in an ideal world.

@FireflyJedi23 That's a complete invasion of privacy. I've met multiple cuddle buddies at their hotel and I've never heard of that. They do that because of an increase cost of 2 people using the shower or 2 people eating continental breakfast in the morning. I'd report it to hotel management, honestly!
