Emotion release and cuddling

So I had a cuddle last night with someone that I think is under a lot of stress from a couple things, not sure about what all. I also think maybe being divorced and single and having no one to cuddle when she is stressed probably doesn't help. But while cuddling I felt something wet on my chest, and her breathing was different, and I realized she was crying. When I realized this I gave her a tighter cuddle, pulled her in closer, and said it's ok, and she just let loose.

This is the second time I've experienced this - was a few years ago, with someone else. I take it as a compliment that they feel safe enough with me to let their walls down and let out that level of emotion.

Anyone else experience this?

Anyways, Merry Christmas.

Wow, I have as well. And you know what? I forgot all about it until now, as if I blocked it out. This was during a trip where I flew back to spend xmas with my family.

She met me at a hotel and I felt like I was soothing her more than anything. She had a lot of confusing thoughts and I even forgot what she was struggling with but she ended up crying.

I used to be a bit of a crier myself. Happy or sad, it came when my emotions got overwhelming and I always had a certain innocence I kept within me. It was often cathartic for me, so I was equipped for this.

I think she felt embarrassed afterward, which I do understand, having met for the first time and all. But I felt how you did. Good that someone felt safe enough to let out their tears with me.

  • Holidays can do that much and more to someone. I am glad that you guys were able to provide that safe haven for them. I don’t think someone should be embarrassed to cry. It is not a sign of weakness. Sometimes human cry to express emotions that words cannot deliver.
