Does anyone know what the big round black giant flying bug is that was chasing me in the carport? We have cicadas out here but they buzz loud. This thing didn't.
Cicadas buzz loud in the trees, not so much when flying. Do you happen to have a picture?
Was it a bat?
Or a carpenter bee? They don’t sting but they will get all up in your business if you’re close to their nesting areas.
Probably a drone
If you were in Texas I could say a mosquito because they’re giant there.
My guess would be the palo verde beetle . Matches your encounter and location pretty well . They aren’t poisonous or sting but because of size , their bite can be unpleasant if they are threatened.
