Anyone else here ever play a card game called Mao? It's an interesting game. Usually only the dealer knows the rules, and the players have to figure them out as they go. There's two versions. The easy version, in which you're told what rule you're breaking when you break it, and the hard version, where you have to figure it out on your own. In the hard version, you're not even told that you're being given a card for breaking a rule.

It's been ages since I played, but it came to mind recently.

And that sounds interesting. I only have an unfortunate, or maybe fortunate reference from another game I played back in college called a$$hole. That, too, had rules that could be issued by the winner and second place called the President and VP. And of course, the loser of the round was crowned the game's namesake.

Mostly a drinking game.

Is there a way to play Mao with people online?

@IronicMaiden yes, I've played Mao. My ex wife's family introduced me and my kids to it. Never thought I could have that much fun AND be that frustrated at the same time. We played the easy way for 1 or 2 rounds to learn the game, then played the hard way.
I do miss game nights at my brother in law's house.
