Anyone Else Looking for Genuine Friendship Along the Way?

One of the things I've discovered since joining Cuddle Comfort is that many people come here looking for more than just a cuddle session. Yes, physical comfort is wonderful, but sometimes what we're really missing is a friend. Someone to check in with, share a laugh with, talk about our day with, or simply know that someone cares. I've had some amazing conversations with people from all walks of life, and it's reminded me how many adults struggle to make new friends. Between work, family responsibilities, stress, and life in general, genuine connection can be surprisingly hard to find.

I'm curious:

💛 Have you made any real friendships through Cuddle Comfort?
💛 What qualities do you value most in a friend?
💛 Do you think friendship makes cuddle sessions more meaningful?
💛 What's something you'd love to have a friend to do with you?

For me, friendship is built on kindness, trust, laughter, good conversation, and showing up for each other. Whether it's sharing memes, celebrating wins, venting about a tough day, or simply checking in to say hello, those little moments matter. I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences. 😊

I'm here primarily for friendships. Most people I converse with I know I'll likely never.meet and if we do meet it doesn't mean we are necessarily going to cuddle. Hell some of my favorite people I've chatted with on here for years and haven't met in person but consider them to be good friends to me. But if I do.meet someone and we do cuddle, we are most certainly friends first and usually friends thereafter .

  • I would love a simple friendship. But sadly, Like you mentioned before, there are so many others here who expect something more. . At least that has been my persomal experience thus far.

Some day. I hope to find somebody who truely enjoys my company, my friendship and appreciate the time and energy I give.

I shouldn't have to always initiate ongoing communication. Reach out with a good morning..

As adults, it's hard enough to make friends IRl. It shouldn't be this hard in the cuddling world where we already have one thing in common. But it is, the majority of the ppl who reach out, want cuddles right now, without knowing my name, my personality or if we get along and usually only when they are "driving by".

I have had 1 cuddler in the last 2 years who has messaged me like a true friend would and I them. 1.

So yes with that said , I would absolutely love the opportunity to make life long friends.

  • I have made several good friends here over the years - some I've cuddled with, some I haven't, and some I haven't had the chance to meet in person yet.

I think there are far more people here for community and friendship than the bad apples lead folks to believe.

  • I'll admit, I've become used to being distant in my adulthood because the city setting I come from isn't exactly friendly. I haven't had many friends in my life and it's mainly due to my social anxiety, which isn't as harsh now as it was back then that I would be so nervous of making a bad impression on people so I would constantly second guess my approach to people. I don't have that fear anymore, but in turn the effort I have in wanting to make friends has plummeted significantly because I've gotten used to the isolation.

Even so, I still would like to be in civil company of others so that's what I come here for in CC. More often than not, I can get by without the need of cuddling (though that would make for a nice bonus). It would be nice to believe that genuine friendships can not only be a reality but more commonplace like it once was.

Connection is so vital regardless of the title

  • The main thing I love about CC is that I can cuddle with pros without the expectation of friendship or any type of relationship. I don’t have to do the whole getting to know someone ritual/song and dance. I can message a pro, set up a session, meet, get down to cuddling within minutes and when it’s done, I can say goodbye and leave. Occasionally I’ll click with someone and we stay in touch and that’s fine if it happens organically but that’s generally fleeting. Overall, I prefer to keep my distance. I’m not a fan of attachment other than my family and my long time friends.

  • I honestly am here mainly for that. If you read my About Me it says I’m not looking right now but no one reads that far and asks when I’m available. If they genuinely cared or were interested in my time, they would take the time to read what I took the time to write.

I’ve had two friendships from here. Both strictly digital, one didn’t work out because they were stuck on the “let’s meet/my life sucks/why can’t we meet/I never get “love”” cycle and I couldn’t do it. The other I’m still in contact with. They work overseas, so conversations is at all different hours, but it’s nice to talk to someone about anything.

I never guess I’ve always been looking for that close brother/sister “best friend” kind of person that people seem to have. I never had that and feel like I’m missing out.

  • When I first started it was out of genuine curiosity, nothing more nothing less..As far as friendship goes, that's not what I'm here for.. Truth be told I'm lucky if I have six seven sessions a year and it's usually with the same Pros that I'm comfortable with.. And even though I genuinely enjoy my time with them, at best I'll consider them friendly acquaintances .That's not to say that I won't check up with one or two of them just to stay in touch.. For example last month there were two guys driving all over Austin Texas shooting at random people, and immediately I messaged two Pros that live in Austin to see if they were okay because basically half of Austin was on lockdown because of that.. So while I was genuinely concerned for both of them it's still kind of hard for me to consider them friends in the true sense of the word.. Because I don't pay to spend time with my friends.. And I think that if I set a session with a pro and when I arrive at her location or she arrives at mine, nothing monetary is exchanged because I say we're just two friends hanging out.. I don't think I'll get a very"friendly" reaction.. I'm all about being honest in general and if the time ever came where I started having legitimate feelings for someone that I've had sessions with, whether those feelings are now friendship or something more I'm going to say it and let the chips fall where they may.. I guess you can say it's like having a friend at work, you enjoy their company but you never see them outside of work.

  • Id say no for myself so far but im only a few weeks in, and i kind of limited myself to only a few people so far. I'd love to have a hiking or cycling buddy in the future!

  • Hello all, yes finding a friend is my intent. I have not had a cuddle session with anyone yet but before I cuddle with someone I want to talk and kind of get their vibe. I think cuddling goes both ways.

Have you made any real friendships through Cuddle Comfort? No not yet
💛 What qualities do you value most in a friend? trust
💛 Do you think friendship makes cuddle sessions more meaningful? absolutely
💛 What's something you'd love to have a friend to do with you? roadtrips, daily adventures, events around town - i love a good fair.

I am ok with a friendship with a cuddle buddy but only if it makes sense to both of us-it’s not something I’m seeking specifically.

ETA my answers to the specific questions:
Have I made friends through CC? Not yet

What qualities do you value: Kindness, sense of humor.

Do you think friendship makes cuddles sessions more meaningful? Yes, I’m sure

Something meaningful to do with a friend:
Nature walks, sharing meals, listening to music.

  • I've definitely made a few friends along the way. It's wonderful to have mutual care, concern, connection, & community with people who you have something in common with. 🤗

Yes, friendship is one of my goals in using this site. Yes, I've formed several meaningful friendships with people I met here. Unfortunately, none of them are local. But we stay in touch and talk a lot, and they are friends to me just like the people I see in the flesh. Yes, to me a cuddle buddy who is a friend first makes the cuddle better.

  • Friendship is absolutely the goal. I don’t want to cuddle with someone I don’t know. And definitely not with someone I don’t like. I’m an enthusiast here. I’m very choosy about who I move forward with. Anytime I’ve rushed through my own process, it was a let down.

  • Anything in life I do, friendship is always welcome. I expect anyone I'm willing to use the label as friend to live up to my standards of truthfulness and accountability as I desire to be called out and questioned if there may be something about myself that may need to be examined.
That being said, I am always open to friend like acquaintances, whatever that may look like to someone.
But strictly business relationships are just as welcomed.
I have made at least one friend so far from here.

  • I think finding friendship via this platform and cuddling generally would be wonderful, very welcome.

But I wonder if there's an ethical issue for professional cuddlers developing friendship with clients. I'd be curious hearing from pros about their perspective on this matter.

Perhaps it's only a reasonable expectation between fellow enthusiasts?

  • (ΦωΦ)hello, i am an aloof cat. i enjoy time alone a lot, have difficulty maintaining connections and little desire to make new ones but it's nice when it's happens! This will color all of my opinions on the matter so if you disagree feel free to dismiss them as the yowling of a sourpuss.

Massage therapists, therapists and cuddlers are generally welcoming, understanding and warm people. All wonderful traits for a friend. Does that mean they're a friend in waiting? no. absolutely not. These are necessary traits to be effective in their profession or in the case of some cuddlers, their hobby. I know this thread is about friendship but a massage therapist dating a client will get their license revoked. It's highly problematic. The NCBTMB (national certification board for therapeutic massage & bodywork) recommends at LEAST 6 months after client termination before any intimate relationship can begin. Personally I think due to limerence potential it should be 2-5 years after termination since that's typically how long limerence takes to run it's course but 100% of women I've asked said uh, never. So I'll defer to them. Anyway.

Effective platonic touch be it from a MT or a cuddler requires feelings of safety. That itself is a kind of intimacy. If someone isn't getting that feeling of comfort, safety and trust elsewhere wires can get crossed for both parties. You could easily project traits or feelings onto an individual that aren't there just because of how comforted you feel. At massage therapy school we get some ultra basic training on how to minimize wires getting crossed, avoiding transference and countertransference. Actual therapists get a lot more training and can better mitigate it or find a productive use for it while maintaining a professional relationship.

I don't expect friendship from cuddles or actively seek it. I generally keep messages to booking and that's it. I think trying to fulfill emotional needs from a therapeutic session is unhealthy. As a MT (student) if I see someone is duckfooted I can do some hip stretches which can correct the outward hip rotation...for about 10 minutes. I can't fix you in a single session or even weekly sessions. The most I can do is provide some temporary relief. You have to figure out the root cause on your own, do your own daily stretches and make lifestyle changes if you want to change that aspect of your life. Similarly, a cuddle can provide temporary relief. but a cuddler isn't a long term solution. find that elsewhere.

i also think there's a certain cruelty to asking a question. a sweet, kind, caring person will not enjoy giving a response that could devastate someone. rejecting a request for a deeper connection harms both parties.

  • I just got here so not too long to really understand the platform, but I can definitely say for myself I came to make friends as well as the physical aspects of it. For me I value mindfulness in my friends the most. Just someone who thinks twice and really cares about your well being and checks in from time to time. And allows you your space if you need it. I personally feel like being close with someone is just as healing as a physical cuddle session. And if I could make more friends I’d live to just chill with them watch YouTube maybe make TikTok’s and just do nice things with them like cooking together or going out regularly.

I am certainly open to. Sometimes you have to live and let life

  • This may sound really awful and paints me in a bad light, , but I have found that if I become friends with any cuddlers, it just doesn't work out for me as they then think they don't need to pay for cuddle sessions. Maybe it's just me . 🤷

  • I know this is slightly off topic, but

My best friend and I met through Cuddle Comfort as professionals and I am now the Godmother of her beautiful baby girl :)

This community has introduced me to some of the most intelligent and empathetic women I know, and I can proudly say I have several years-long friends thanks to this platform.

Pros, don't hesitate to reach out to each other if you're feeling lonely!

  • No, and for the very opposite reasons (or perhaps the same?) as @penguin34 .

Since I have a preference for cuddling enthusiasts (and only cuddle with professionals out of "necessity" as some would put it—out of "desperation" at times—as I would put it) I prefer to keep that professional distance.

It then doesn't work out for me because I fundamentally have faith in my ability to make new friends as needed (without bribing them with money), not really interested in making new friends in the first place, am okay with the very few I currently have, and enjoy my own company quite a bit.

  • I am always open to meeting new people from ALL walks of life

  • 💛 Have you made any real friendships through Cuddle Comfort?

    Yes.

💛 What qualities do you value most in a friend?

    Genuineness.

💛 Do you think friendship makes cuddle sessions more meaningful?

I don't refer to cuddling with a friend as a "session." But I also don't consider someone a friend just because we've cuddled.

💛 What's something you'd love to have a friend to do with you?

I've enjoyed doing lots of things together with friends: sharing meals, day-tripping, etc. All of the usual things friends do.

  • I am here to make enemies

@pmvines You can be my frenemy, Vines

  • Frenemy - when all you want is an enemy , but instead you get friend zoned

  • I was open to a friendship, but certainly wasn't expecting one - and I've met an amazing person that I resonate with on many levels - there were synchronicities and the connection was so palpable, so fast, it was kind of jarring TBH... Its now been a couple months and we connect in and outside of the cuddle container, and text often about all kinds of things and share different aspects of our lives... I don't know what this connection will grow into, and we're just being present with it and not pushing or pulling and letting it unfold naturally. There seems to be romantic interest, but nothing has happened on that front yet - and again nothing forced. We've floated ideas of taking a trip together and at this point I'd say it seems likely... Now to answer your questions:

💛 Have you made any real friendships through Cuddle Comfort?
    Definitely yes

💛 What qualities do you value most in a friend?
Trust, resonance, ease, alignment, being able to be authentic and not having anything feel performative

💛 Do you think friendship makes cuddle sessions more meaningful?
In my experience, yes. Especially if there is trust/resonance/alignment. My heart opens and the energy is deeper, there's a kind of afterglow resonance that happens after the sessions where you can feel the persons energy with you longer, and there's a genuine connection/familiarity that makes it more sincere

💛 What's something you'd love to have a friend to do with you?
Anything where there is mutual alignment. I love being silly, sharing hopes and dreams, looking back at experiences and sharing, being real and sharing whatever is real in the moment. Listening to good music and exploring in all the ways....

  • 💛 Have you made any real friendships through Cuddle Comfort?
Not yet. I hope to though.
💛 What qualities do you value most in a friend?
Vulnerability, safety, dependability, the ability to be fully loved even if we don’t agree, respect, honest.
💛 Do you think friendship makes cuddle sessions more meaningful?
Absolutely. Friendship can make even huge meaningful or distant. Same thing with cuddles. Like with a couple friends i used to cuddle with that were my best friends, even if the cuddle want the softest or i was in a janky position, it was so meaningful and comforting
💛 What's something you'd love to have a friend to do with you?
Eat, run errands, walk, chill at a park, be silly and do kid stuff like climbing trees or rocks or structures that weren’t designed for climbing. All the little things in life that make it living. And also cuddling and hugs.
