  • @scpcguy It is disheartening, and I wish the site did not operate this way. I had the initial impression that Pro's were "professionals" in the typical usage of the word... Such as Merriam-Webster's initial definitions, 1b and c...

    "engaged in a profession that requires academic learning as preparation"
    "characterized by or conforming to the technical or ethical standards of a profession"
    "exhibiting a courteous, conscientious, and generally businesslike manner in the workplace"

    Instead, the site has gone with definition 2c...

    "engaged in by persons receiving financial return"

    In other words, the only thing differentiating a Pro is that they get paid. I find this to be misleading to new users.

    Going back to the concept of becoming a Pro so one would seem trustworthy...I'm sure there are men who have pure intentions with this thought, but we've also seen those who use it with predatory motives. Even the site itself vehemently advises everyone that they must do their own homework in deciding if a Pro is safe, and provides no guarantees.
