Do you tell?

Do you tell anyone you are on CC?
Today I wrote the website name on a piece of paper and left it on the vanity at the gym. There are not many people on here in my area. For sure not many women.

  • I started out being open about it and immediately lost a friend because of it so I don’t anymore 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • It would depend on the person and my relationship with them.

I’ve not been doing this very long but so far I’ve never talked about it to any friends or family. But to be fair, I also would not talk to them about going to the gym, or a sauna, or getting a massage, or a haircut.

It’s not that I’m ashamed or embarrassed by it, but it is a personal health and wellness activity and not really anyone else’s concern.

  • @Elrondish sounds similar to my experience. I told my closest friend and she had an incredibly judgmental reaction based on incorrect assumptions, which was very hurtful. So I don’t think I’ll be telling anyone else.

  • I know the people in my circle wouldn’t understand, and I don’t need them to at this moment. I feel for those who have shared and suffered loss or ridicule.😔

  • Sure, if they ask or the subject comes up. Do I broadcasted to the public with banners and handling out business cards: No. If this is my only source of income then sure. Why not!! I enjoy what I do and I do it well. I am not ashamed of it. If others want to join in, then yay!! On the DL, we should get referral credits 😝

  • Not usually, no. I've shared the site with a friend who I thought could have benefited from it. But mostly it's nobody else's business that I use it 😎🙂🫶

Over the decade that I've been on here, I've told a few family members. But I largely keep it to myself. Most people I know or have talked to just wouldn't understand because either their touch needs are met, or they don't believe that it could actually be a need for someone. Recently, I told a friend about it because we were talking about our mental health situations, and I mentioned how physical touch is often understated in general when it comes to things that can help with that. I think initially, it probably seemed out of left field to them. But I think more than anything, they thought it was cool that a site can provide that, and platonically too.

My wife and kids know. My younger sister knows. The last two people I dated know. My therapist knows. My neighborhood friends know. A couple of longtime guy friends know.

Those guy friends include one I served with in the Marine Corps when “don’t ask, don’t tell” was government policy. I always found that policy suspect.

    🐵

I don’t mention it to people I work with, or people I’m in shows with, which is basically work. And, so far I haven’t mentioned it to my parents, or my older sister. I doubt disclosure would hurt our relationships at all. But those people all skew a bit more conservative than I do. And I think they would find the notion challenging as they seem to find non-monogamy.

    🙊

  • I have told a few people. I have not had a cuddle experience yet so my review has been neither positive or negative. I enjoy cuddles and group hugs but some people tend to flake over it. It is like telling someone your in therapy unless they have experienced it they ignore it.

  • I'm pretty particular/picky with my friends. So all of them are quality human beings who are not judgmental of anyone over anything, and will support anyone in anything. They also tend to be well above average intelligence so that helps as well. So I could tell or discuss it with any of them and they would be nothing but interested/supportive. Wouldn't change my circle of friends for anything.

  • Do you tell anyone you are on CC?

Yep, I have told plenty throughout the years actually. 😊

Family members and my very small circle of friends know that I am active here and they also know that I am active on "the site that shall not be named" too. 😊👍

  • I out people to friends and families. The person outed needs a hug after I do that. This is the best way to get a hug from an enthusiast just as long as they don’t know it was you.

  • I haven't told anyone that I'm on CC, yet I'm very honest about enjoying platonic cuddling. I've shared this on social media, with friends, and with family. It's no secret

  • Every time I tell someone, they get the wrong idea and assume that I'm out here selling my soul lol.

  • I've talked about it openly with friends whom I thought might be interested. I've also posted flyers around town and posted on local groups online (usually using my CuddleFaery accounts). I also have a couple cuddle-themed t-shirts that I'll wear that prompt curious people to ask.

There used to be an official CC flyer you could print from the homepage, but it looks like it has been removed. You could always design your own and put your username on it for advertising, post it on local community bulletin boards.

  • Sometimes. You’d think a site like this would catch on in this day and age with the whole loneliness epidemic but there’s still a huge negative stigma against it.
