Music and Cuddle Sessions

edited July 24 in General

I just wanted to share the importance of cuddle sessions and music choice. I really find it important as a pro to encounter cuddlers that allow me to lead the session through music. i really feel that music sets the tone, and relaxes everyone I meet. Sometimes when I screen cuddlers if they do mot want me to play music, or would prefer if I don’t I will not cuddle with them.

On a side note, what are some songs and playlists all of you are utilizing for sessions!

I one time encountered someone who played a unique genre during a session, definitely changed the vibe and hence created a new standard for me.

On a side note here are some of the playlists I made for sessions :) i used to time my sessions this way, but not anymore, I really should make them 10hours+ because I just use a timer now.

  • Thank you for sharing :)
    I voted lofi

Lol I need to know who picked heavy metal 😂🤪
    Thank you @Cuddlesofcuddle 😊

  • Either no music or ambient at low volume.

@Kempist why is no music your preference? Just curious

    @IronicMaiden I guess not, bahahahaha

  • It's distracting

    Hmmm okay

    ,

  • I love putting on some dark instrumental cello music or some blues/jazz. The more dark/depressing it is, the better. 😁

  • I picked instrumental btw. Heavy metal is a whole different experience. I need to be alone in a dark room for that. 🤘🖤

  • As a client, I have to say I do appreciate a good playlist, but I prefer a slower more melo track, because it puts me in a more relaxed state. It should also match the rhythm of the cuddle. I don’t need the music to be too loud, or else it can get distracting.

@ProfHermes actually music being too loud has been distracting for me before, volume is very important. I feel like anyone in any situation wouldn’t like music to be blasted,
Similar to how it’s disruptive when someone blasts music in their car, and it hurts my ears 🥹

@BellaAine I added to heavy metal to be silly, I wanted to see how many people would do that lol, I don’t think people would cuddle with that kind of genre, but I guess you never know! Anyway, I like your music taste :)

  • @cuudledragon I should share my Heavy Mellow playlist with you. Though since I only just now remembered about it, there's not a lot in it. I do also have an instrumetal (not a typo) playlist.

And if I can fall asleep to heavy metal, why not cuddle to it.

  • @IronicMaiden i guess you just never know, definitely want to see the playlist

@TheFunCartel when you say elcetic do you mean this?

    Or this?

    Or this?

  • I also have used Vaporwave during sessions, I typically use this for cuddlers I have known a long time

Oh and whoops I guess its Chillsynth?

    Here is vaporwave

  • I love how much thought you put into this! Music really changes the whole vibe of a session. For my cuddles, I actually like to let my clients choose the music. I find that letting them pick their favorite songs helps them feel safe and relaxed right away.

If they do not have a preference, I usually put on soft acoustic songs or calm nature sounds. I am very flexible, and my main goal is always to make sure the client is comfortable. I will definitely give your classical playlist a listen!

  • The person I am cuddling with gets to choose the background. If I keep in one ear (hearing aid) to allow for conversation, background music/sound needs to be very low or nonexistent. If I go earless, genre doesn't matter. But there are legit reasons for no music.

  • @cuudledragon have a lot of metal come on but it's because I just do a shuffle of Spotify library. lol, yes it does seem kind of unusual to have meshuggah or something like that playing during a cuddle.

This. A paid cuddle is supposed to cater to the client, not the Pro.

@SoftCuddlezzXp have you ever had an experience where a client put on music that just wasn’t relaxing? Just curious! But nature sounds always hit!

@SunsetSnuggles that's a fair point, but people usually like the playlists so it’s never been an issue. Its only really an issue when people don’t want any music at all, and that's a question I use during the screening. I think every pro has their style on how they help people relax, and sometimes clients and pros aren’t compatible. Its like picking a business you enjoy most. I think making yourself digestible to everyone removes a level of authenticity. I think being authentic helps people get comfortable.

@Lara1970 yeah I am sure of it, but I still feel like from my experience it’s been more helpful than not. Especially with people who have social anxiety. There have been sessions that didn’t have music, but sometimes its because Ive become familiar enough with a regular that we don’t need it. Again, it has helped me set the tone. I am curious how others set the tone the first time without any music. I think there are other things that also help, like dim lighting, projectors, satin sheets…all components of making things extra comfortable. Again, know what someone’s preferences are is the reason why screenings exist.

  • @cuudledragon since I’m an indecisive person by nature, I’m glad to be asked, but also glad to not have to decide. If music I like is already playing in the background when I enter the room, I’d happily agree to it. The only possible pushback I would have is the volume.

If its music I don’t find appropriate for relaxation, then I will say something and hope the host has another option. If all else fails then I will suggest a playlist.

  • I have had clients that preferred no music, because they wanted to sleep or just talk. I'm a big music lover and enjoy having a soundtrack for my life, whether it's classical or punk rock or lofi.

  • I find most clients don't have a preference when given the opportunity to choose music. I usually play lo-fi. And I absolutely agree that music can be a big part of the entire sensory experience.

I had a 4 hour session once we're the first 2 hours the client had picked the music. German death metal. It was so extremely difficult for me to cuddle to it. After a couple hours he gave lo-fi a chance and he really enjoyed how it changed the whole mood of things.

  • @MeltMyWay I don't think I'd enjoy any sort of death metal during a cuddle. Music should engage the senses, not the pulse rate.

  • @IronicMaiden lol yeah it was intense for sure

  • Also to add, "pro" is not a synonym for "doormat". Music should be agreed on. After all, if it puts one person on edge, the cuddle won't be relaxing for the other person either.

  • @IronicMaiden Exactly, thank you!

As the TOS states, both parties are able to end the session at any point in time. Comfort is key, and requires co-operation from both parties.
