Transgender people are not a monolith just because one person is very out and open on here doesn’t mean everyone else is or should have to be . I choose to be out as a bisexual woman . Not everyone is open about their sexuality , unless you are trying to date someone then it’s not anyone’s buisness.
My reason for post has nothing to do with people being out and open. I understand everyone has the right to identify how they wish. My reason for this thread was safety. We need to see the reality that we don’t live in a perfect world and there are evil people out there that will harm people who are different. Hate crimes are committed daily, sad but true.
@CuddlebugTM what do you think the odds are that a male client would become upset at you if he found out that you were bisexual vs a client finding out that you were transgender if either wasn’t divulged beforehand?
@cuddlebugTM agreed. it should remain between the two people who are meeting up, nobody elses business
honestly I think it’s silly that people think they have to tell transgender people how to be safe , trust me they know. They live with how to stay safe daily ! Even if it’s young naive transgender young adult , the people they need advice from is from people who transgender . They have the experience to advise wisely .
@Pmvines has a great point. If it’s not going to be in the members profile, they should make it known to the other member before they meet. Nice one.
I don’t even think it’s legal to require anyone to put themselves about being lgbtqia . You can make suggestions but otherwise I don’t think it can be required
Hate crimes are illegal but they still happen.
You really think a transgender person doesn’t know their risks and they need you to tell them about safety ?
@CuddlebugTM while many may know their risks I dont see harm in someone stating their concerns, especially considering this might be a new environment for them.
@Morpheus I said it is between them what they tell or not tell or how they conduct their time together. I avoid making statements like should, have to, need to, etc when it comes to matters of personal choice. I have been around here long enough to know what you are attempting to do with taking something I said to use it as a counter to what another person has said in order to create a perceived conflict of opinion amongst people who otherwise do not see eye to eye with you on a topic. I'm not playing these games with you.
It’s more than clear we also talk about safety here often that should suffice for all people . I honestly think most often it’s not about keeping transgender people safe it’s about people feeling they have a right to know . That not knowing somehow justifies violence and then the victim is blamed for not telling something that is no ones buisness .
Would people be offended if CC had some options like OkCupid including: Men, Women, Cis Men, Trans Man, Trans Woman, Transgender, etc?
I agree trans shouldn't be forced to identify themselves in their profile but there is also a reason why 100% of my trans friends do so in dating profiles. A few didn't before. After bad experiences they do now. Others just "wanted to be upfront to avoid misunderstandings".
@chococuddles that is kind of my thoughts. I was thinking the nature of this site is being upfront about what one wants i.e. cuddling and not sex, makes me think the idea of being open is good. This is by no means a simple issue. I was thinking that during say a session is the trans pro was the big spoon and got erect, and the client didnt expect that could be more awkward than it needed o be. Just trying to look at it many ways.
@chococuddle I think the option is great as long as it remains an option . I’ve had some transgender friends be more open and others who choose not to . They are all fully aware of the risks of this world and choose accordingly .
