I honestly don’t think it’s about education . It’s simply about people respecting others . Can you teach respect to adults , I’m not sure . Boundaries is a simple concept that people deal with everywhere . At their jobs , driving , stores etc . They are daily part of our lives .
I guess there is respect : you choosing to care about others comfort and safety . Listen to their boundaries because you value them as a person . I am not sure this can be taught in adults .
Then there is compliance : you listen and follow boundaries because you want something or scared of consequences . I think this can be taught !
Mama raised me to respect women, and in order to respect them, it is necessary for me to respect their boundaries. Jim
@respectful ithink the current Me2movement will encourage more women to speak up and by reference to that experience, to call out those who abuse boundaries in personal relationships such as platonic cuddling arrangements. I’m hopeful that the boundary abusers will learn to respect others, and the boundaries between them, but my cynical side says they will just be more creative in how they avoid being responsible adults. To the plus side, 10 or 15 years ago, if you spoke of personal boundaries to most Americans, they wouldn’t know what you were talking about.
Respect and care for other human beings are the basis of all boundaries in all relationships:)
I feel more comfortable if the person I'm with is comfortable, and I don't like making people uncomfortable. Also, I would like to be able to cuddle again which isn't likely to happen if I don't respect boundaries,
David I think that is good.
