I would love feedback on this article. It's worth the read.
This has been discussed quite a few times on these forums already. Maybe @reurbo can move all the previous posts to this thread?
This article has?
Yes that specific article, I can try to add some links. For now though, here is a screen cap from a search using the word “destroying”
I would appreciate that! I was doing some research for my website and ran across it. I thought it was interesting and I would love to read that feedback.
Yeah, I've seen it mentioned a bunch of places on here and people's profiles. Hadn't gotten to reading it yet though...
That is one reason why I get massages.
Here's one of the past threads: Reframing Touch, Excellent Article
It is also mentioned in this post and the ones following.
Thanks guys! Confirms that my interest in this article was warranted.
@Scarlette first time seeing the article, thought it was great, thank you for sharing it. it really shows there is a clear displacement of something primal in society, a sense of connection that is lost or less available for anyone not receiving touch in their lives. this community of cuddlers is changing the stigma and making it available so everyone can experience the benefits that cuddling has to offer. holding someone is balanced and is balancing in so many ways, great thread.
"Destroying" seems a pretty strong word to describe it. I haven't had much touching in my life but I don't consider myself to be 'destroyed'. Maybe a little unbalanced, but isn't everyone in some form or another?
I don’t get the whole touching another man is gay thing. I’m very touchy in general and even with my guy friends and family members. It’s not the same type of touching as I would have with a female but there’s definitely touching. We all bro hug and wrestle and hit each other. To me that’s normal touching, can get immature at times lol but it’s all normal and necessary.
I will suggest reading "Loneliness: Human Nature and the Need for Social Connection". It's about humans in general, not only men, and gives us beautiful insights about our way of living.
Thanks for the feedback. While I found the article very fascinating I wasn't sure how it would be viewed from the male perspective. @Melilline I will check it out. Thanks.
I would say that the lack of touch is having a huge impact on society in general. Because people often work freelance or out of the home these days (or as independent contractors) it offers less opportunities to meet with people in real life. As a result, a lot of people don't know how to go out and meet new people that they didn't go to school with or something. That is why I think sites like this are actually very important.
