Is anyone excited for Solo? Has anyone bought their tickets already? The trailer looks amazing. I’ve already bought my tickets for Friday night.
Considering Star Wars' last three movies were less than stellar, I'm gonna wait and see what the reviews say.

@lilredmage I may be in the minority, but I loved a few of the recent ones. Rogue One _was the first _Star Wars to convey something of the grittiness of war; particularly guerilla warfare. The good guys did morally questionable things. People you were rooting for died --- and died for real rather than just transitioning into "Force ghosts" a la Kenobi in the 1978 movie. I found that refreshing. The CGI Princess Leia was maybe a little creepy, but I really enjoyed the movie overall.
The Force Awakens _was well made, but it was a total reboot of _A New Hope: Another Force prodigy on a desert planet. Another cute droid full of vital information is being sought by another imperial military dictatorship. A dictatorship with yet another death star.
The Last Jedi _set everyone's expectations on their heads. I think people expected _The Empire Strikes Back redux, as the previous installment was A New Hope redux. Instead, we get Luke as a bitter old recluse jaded over both the checkered history of the Jedi and his own screw-up with his nephew Ben. After two years of speculation about who Rey was (nobody!) and who Snoke was (didn't matter!) I found the unpredictability of the last episode to be a breath of fresh air.
Having said all that, I'm not so excited about the remaining Star Wars Story movies. I'll probably skip Solo. And the forthcoming Kenobi one. Disney paid Lucasfilm a lot for the franchise, and they're going to milk it for 100 movies. At least.
This would probably be a bad time to admit that the last one I saw was Episode 3.... In my defense, I haven't gotten to the movies much since Ive been back in school.
I did see the preview thanks to YouTube forcing ads on me, and it looked decent.
I saw the last jedi but not the others. I don't get out much nor do I have attention span for movies lol . I am one of those people who will put a movie on half a dozen times and not ever watch the whole thing ?
The Wall Street Journal reviewed Solo today. Headline: "The Force is Half Awake." LOL Not a ringing endorsement.

I've never really liked star wars movies. I think the universe is cool and I love star wars games....but the movies....no.
First off I'm a huge Star Wars fan.
With that, I'm not really excited for it. First off, I feel Solo: A Star Wars Story is unnecessary (we know enough of Han Solo to know his back story). Second, Alden Enriche barely has a resemblance to Han Solo / Harrison Ford. See below for an almost perfect look a like. Though, I'm still gonna see it because I'm a Star Wars fan, but I'm not really excited. To be honest, my love for the franchise is waning due to Disney's handling of the franchise.
Now these would've been great Star Wars Anthology films: -Boba Fett (Post Clone Wars but Pre Original Trilogy) -Darth Maul (Pre Episode I) -Sheev Palpatine (Pre Episode I) -Yoda (Pre Episode I)
Or they could've pursued new stories based on characters like Kyle Katarn or Dash Rendar or it could even be new characters within that universe.
I just find it saddening. Star Wars is supposed to be something to get very hyped and excited about, and look at what's been done to it.

It was supposed to be a trilogy. Everything beyond that is superfluous cashing in.
I'm giving it a pass. Never was a big Han Solo fan (or Star Wars for that matter), and recent movies haven't given me any incentive to continue seeing them. Then again, Kathleen Kennedy (she is to Star Wars what Kevin Feige is to the MCU) has said she doesn't need my money or support, or the money and support of any male, for the Star Wars franchise.

Still recovering from Infinity War. Panther disappointed but Thanos delivered. Deadpool...was Deadpool.
Never been a huge SW fan but I did recently watch The Last Jedi and LOVED it. Easily one of my favorite SW films.
Will probably skip Solo and blow my money on Antman and the Wasp, Jurassic World 2 and hit a matinee of Incredibles 2.
I do have a SW fanatic in my office so I'll see what he says on Monday.

@lilredmage ROTFL at that hashtag. :-) [Spoiler alert] Actually, while I loved the ending of Infinity War, it was also kind of a glaring plot hole. Thanos has the power to do anything, to reverse time, to change reality, etc., and the only solution he can come up with for the problem of limited resources is genocide? He doesn't want to create more supply by making more resources renewable; or advance technology for more efficient use of existing resources; like the Khmer Rouge on a universal scale, his prescription for paradise is to kill half the population of the universe. It never occurs to him to try anything else. And that's what makes him such a scary villain: we've all known people who, given the power and the opportunity, would self-righteously do exactly what he did.
I'm going to see it again too.

Nobody hates Star Wars as much as a Star Wars fan.
I saw it last night and thought it was great. Im quite sure there will be a sequel.
I just saw it and I really liked it. Alden Enherich did a good job same with Donald Glover, though I still think Anthony Ingruber would've been better. I just didn't care for Lando's SJW droid. She kind of annoyed me. Also the certain cameo by a "certain someone " was fantastic. I'm glad it wasn't disjointed like I thought it would be.

Although I’m a huge Star Wars fan, I’m old enough to have seen a new hope in theaters when it was originally released, I don’t watch or read any of the expanded universe. That being said, I thought the character that made the cameo was long dead. I sat there for awhile trying to figure out the timeline and thinking wait, this is all screwed up. This would make Han way older than she should be. I then read and found out that the cameo character hadn’t died when I thought he did originally.
@lilredmage LOVED A:IW. But Infinity Gaunlet is one of my favorite stories and IG Thanos is one of my favorite all-time characters.
Only real gripes were spending too much time making the audience sympathize with Thanos and making Thanos a bit too vulnerable as he wore the stones. I know you needed tension in the movie but just thought he could have been a bit more godlike.
Still, I'll see it endless times and love seeing Thanos do some damage onscreen. #ThanosReigns
@chococuddles The directors (The Russo bros.) purposely made Thanos the central focus of Infinity War to develop his character. I thought that was a smart move. Thanos is the only MCU character in Infinity War that is not developed. All the other Avengers have been characterized properly by their respective movies.
I highly recommend you get into the deeper side of the Star Wars canon. Even the old Expanded Universe which is no longer canon. Anyway heres the gist:
MAJOR SPOILER ALERT regarding Solo, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Star Wars: Rebels below:
For the sake of the explanation, I'm using the precise name. I will divide the explanation based on eras in the Star Wars Universe.
Post-Episode I: So after Episode I, Darth Maul was cut in half by Obi-Wan Kenobi as you know. However, Maul used the force fueled with extreme hatred and vengeance (remember as negative emotions fuel the dark side). His body flew through a trash air vent on Naboo and his body was dumped on the junk planet of Lotho Minor. There he replaced his legs with the robotic ones you see in Solo. Now his hatred and lust for vengeance eventually degraded his mind and drove him insane. He is in this state of mind for years until the Clone Wars.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars era Maul is then found by his "blood brother" Savage Opress and Maul is taken to his home planet on Dathomir. There he is taken to a Shaman who restores Maul's mind to normal. However, Maul plans vengeance on both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Sidious (aka The Emperor & Chancellor Palpatine) for abandoning him. He fails at both plans, but he still pursues Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Post-Episode III: By now, Maul is head of the Crimson Dawn (the crime syndicate seen in Solo). For what purpose and reasons, we / I don't know. I assume to use it as a source to track down Obi-Wan whose on Tatooine guarding Luke Skywalker. Tatooine also is infested with scum, villainy, and gangs which makes Maul's position as head of the Crimson Dawn the most logical and efficient way to scout the galaxy.

NOTE: I know I just spilled out a bunch nerdy mumbo jumbo. However, you should watch the Star Wars shows like Star Wars The Clone Wars (which is on Netflix) and Star Wars: Rebels. Both shows expand on the films and feature characters both well known (like Lando Calrissian, Tarkin) and lesser known (Saw Gerrera, Asoka Tano).

@chococuddles I thought Thanos was "perfectly balanced" in Infinity War. And considering what happens, I don't think you could get anymore godlike than that. lol
I think I'll go check out Solo this upcoming weekend.
My favorite line in Infinity War was,

This past Sunday, I had my first cuddle session with a pro AND then went and saw Solo a second time. Great day, if I say so myself.
I've been a Star Wars diehard since I was 7 and am 29 now, so I'm a bit of a pro on the matter, haha, and while this isn't my favorite Star Wars movie (that honor goes to The Last Jedi, followed closely by Return of the Jedi), it was a lot of fun and exceeded my expectations greatly, considering the crap heap that production turned into and the possibility of the lead actor screwing everything up. I give it a 7/10; solid, fun movie with good rewatchability.
