Where is the photo Library?

[Deleted User]Meta (deleted user)

When we message someone it says we have the option to upload photos from our library, but even though we have a handful of photos in our profile, the message option says our library is empty. We cannot find any library option in our account. Where is it, please?

  • @Meta - when I try that I see photos in my profile. However, it only seems to allow choosing photos that are marked for 'Friends' and not 'Public' photos. Maybe you need to mark the photos you want to share as for 'Friends' only.

  • @respectful I have wondered about this myself. I took a moment to look through the expanded FAQ's and didn't find anything about the library choice under either the profile questions or the messages section. Could you add a response to how exactly the my library tab works on the messages? I have a full 15 and only a few are listed as an option on the library.

Thanks in advance for your amazing work! You're remarkable.

  • @PaulaDahla I don't quite understand it either.

To test it out, I just added 2 "friends" and 2 "private" photos, then started a message and clicked on Attach picture -> My Library.

There are two buttons: "Private pictures", which displays no images, and "Let me choose", which displays the private pictures. That doesn't seem right.

@Mark Is everything working OK for "My Library" pictures?

After scanning this thread I mistakenly assumed this was a bug and posted as such (deleted now). I believe this is actually a case of the feature being presented in an unclear way.

To explain, the box that pop-ups actually gives you two different methods of showing a user private photos:

    1) The default method is to attach specific photos inside the conversation (i.e 'Let me choose'). You select them from 'My Library'. The library contains your private/friends-only photos, not your public photos.

    OR

    2) Grant the user access to see ALL your private photos when they view your profile. That is what the checkbox 'Private pictures' will do.

So yeah, it's confusing and needs some UI/text tweaking. I'll probably look at it later today.

  • Should make more sense now.

  • @Mark Thanks, that's a lot clearer now.

A small thing: when I try it, the second line doesn't appear ("Grant access to all friends-only photos").

You might have been testing it in a message to a friend. Which means they already have access to those photos.

@Mark Yep, that was the reason. :)

@PaulaDahla I've included a question about sending photos under Messages in the FAQ.
