Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

I hope everyone is taking time to recognize any need for self care. As the seasons change and as holidays come and go many people are at risk for depression. Monitor your mood, take breaks to care for yourself when you need to. Be self aware and find one person who you can talk to in case things start to get weird for you, And of course cuddling can help with this, however it is not a cure all and the low you might feel once your cuddle pal is no longer there can sometimes make it worse. Take care of yourselves and happy holidays.

Definitely daydream more about having a girlfriend in the cold months. Don't think I have full blown SAD but definitely an adjustment period of the "f*ck-its" for a few weeks while getting used to the cold. Good post, thanks for the kind words.

This is such a kind and considerate message, and I commend you for it.

  • This is so true, thank you for this kind message and reminder. I myself took a break recently to just focus on myself and self-improvement.

This is only because I know that I am not always my best self when the seasons transition. It’s hard to continually fill others’ cups when yours is running low. It’s important to care for others obviously, but you also have to make sure you take care of yourself and don’t neglect your own needs.

I feel like I've been alone most of my life so I've gotten pretty good at caring for myself. The problem now is I live in a large 4-bedroom house with lots of landscaping and a very picky HOA, so most of my spare time is spend taking care of the house and garden. As for the seasons, I live in Arizona so I endure summer and live for the cooler weather. I love sunshine though, it lifts my mood, and we get more of it here than just about anywhere.

  • Another good bit of advice is to look for exciting things to do for each season. I can't ever pick a favorite season because each has so many exciting things to do. Summer is beaches and festivals, fall is hiking and pumpkin everything, winter is spas and fashion, spring is picnics and road trips. Cuddles go well with any season but best in winter. So looking forward to being burrito buddies and binge watching.

This is one of the most difficult seasons. I saw that when working with clients. That part of the reason I offered A seasonal promotion. You are right about the potential lows though. Thanks for reminding people that they are not alone many people are affected by SAD but ot will pass.

  • Yes, this is well worth remembering. It is easy to get caught up in the rush of the season: buying presents, travelling, going to parties, etc and forget to take time for, and care of, oneself. I have a session booked for next Saturday with a cuddler I have never seen before, but who comes highly recommended by the person I was seeing (who has moved south for the winter). I can hardly wait!

I lost a family member a couple of years ago and I think that I didn't really appreciate how much I missed them the past couple of holiday seasons. I came out of, both years, more depressed that I think I realized.

@joyfullife that is wonderful that you offer a seasonal promotion. It is very generous of you to do it at time when people need it most and when they are likely to have less funds available.
