How Do You Think Cuddling Is Changing The Way We Are?

edited January 2019 in General

So I am kind of curious about your opinions regarding cuddling becoming more acceptable in our culture. What are you noticing in your personal and professional life? Do you talk about it with anyone else? Why or why not?

I personally think that it is slowly going to bring our country closer together, expand minds and perspectives and to really fill the need of touch in peoples' lives. I believe it has the potential to calm down the craziness of our worlds and really help us tackle things in a healthy way.

People can make the friendships they crave. They can do fun things they long for. They can really do so much more simply because this site is a channel for them. And why? Because sex was taken out of the equation. How beautiful is that?

Anyways, I would love to hear what you have to say on this matter. I love hearing other perspectives, including yours. :)

If i am being honest, and this is coming from someone who really likes to cuddle, I am not so sure it has been all that life changing or mind altering. I think we are all a bit touch starved and as a society we over sexualize pretty much everything, including touch. I am not sure that, other than an enjoyable activity to share with someone, that it is going to really bring me in any way closer with the world. I will say that it does allow for connection in a way that is unique and connective on a micro level, I don't see it being connective on a macro level though. Doesn't mean that it wouldn't be nice if it were, just is not what i see. As much as i may enjoy it, i try to not over romanticize things and not attribute more to something than what it is.

  • Personally I find that it makes other romantic relationships a little more challenging. Being able to separate touch and closeness from sex has resulted in a few misunderstandings. Cuddling someone and not making a move on them has resulted, on occasion, in people thinking that I don't like them. Not always true but I find that people who haven't been exposed to the idea find it hard to understand. I don't hide the fact that I have multiple cuddle partners because I'd like the idea to pick up more traction with the public. Also it's usually a great conversation topic because a lot of people wonder about how it actually would work.

  • I need to reply more when I'm at the computer, but absolutely this has transformed me emotionally, and also has been for my ideal clients. People just looking for fun, not so much.

  • Quickly, because I am exhausted, emotionally, lol...

Myself as a professional - Finding my purpose and feeling valued by my clients, indescribable and has completely changed my world. I have been feeling more stressed and down in recent months because my session frequency has dwindled to a rarity. There are financial stresses, but I think it's just that regular feeling of purpose and value is such a boost for my energy and emotional well-being. After a good session, I'm on a high and just feel so happy that I could be there for someone who really needed me. It fills my heart.

Myself being cuddled - At CuddleXpo, my cuddle training, and with my boyfriend, being cuddled is such a lift. Being in a space where I can fully relax and just let myself be held, holy cr*p. After all the years I've spent being isolated and feeling like no one understands me or cares, it is completely transformative to be able to routinely enter that space where you are cared for and nurtured. If I had money and a local professional I liked, this would be a self-care service I would 100% jump on board with. It is absolutely imperative to my mental health.

My clients - I have heard so many stories, I won't possibly be able to list them all. People report feeling closer to their spouse / partner after, sleeping better, waking up pain free for the first time in years (from stress headaches), having revelations about themselves and their reality, feeling acceptance for the first time, feeling hope for their future, letting years or decades of pent up thoughts and feelings out for the first time lightening the load on their shoulders in a way that I could visually SEE, etc. It's magic. Seriously =) If you don't feel such results, either you are a pretty well-adjusted and happy person seeking this purely for the fun (congratulations, haha), or you haven't seen a cuddler who is a good match for you and what you are seeking.

  • *I just realized I didn't answer the original question and was just responding to what I was reading in the comments, lol. I'm sorry O:-)

  • *I do agree in your feelings, and believe that eventually (could take a LONG time, and likely will) cuddling will play an important part in healing our country. We have become so disconnected, and that is creating so much pain and suffering from all the hate and lack of compassion running rampant. Connecting will really help heal that. Touch breeds connection, connection breeds understanding, understanding breeds empathy, empathy breeds kindness. We are on the right path =)

There's a deep craving for connection in the human psyche. The level of metamorphosis for the individuals enlightening will always vary. Not everyone needs touch to the point of altering their views on life.

Do I feel that breaking down the stigma that touch can't be platonic will bring us all closer as people? Yes.

I do not feel, like @pmvines stated, on macro level you'll be able to notice with the saturation of how big our country is especially. But I will say I have inspired many people from my home town to join and test the waters themselves.

And each person you connect with...

Each bit of patience you put into setting up cuddle time.

Every exchange of encouraging words..will bring that person closer to a positive life for themselves. Or just even if all they leave with is that balance of touch and acceptance.

And that growth, is always on the person. And it makes my heart Happy watching them get little braver to tackle their day.

I am just a rock skipping along the lake of life.
I hope my ripples reach you all. ???

@UKGuy we are aware. I'm just saying from someone else who lives in THIS country, the demographics are spread far. And having personally talked with @TisDoney even if we couldn't match schedules to meet in person before her travels, she's from my neck of the woods and I was mostly musing towards her thoughts.

it was more directed towards something we share together. I meant no exclusion. ?

Hence why there if the proverbial "I wish I had someone in my area" debates. But it is universal, as platonic cuddling should be - worldwide. Humanity has nothing but bounds of opportunities. ?

The vast majority of person to person physical interaction has always been and probably always will be between person to person in romantic relationships and between parents and children. So I don't see cuddling outside those boundaries having any significant impact on society. It might have an impact on individuals. As for affecting a nation or the world in general, most nations are run by and for the interests of powerful elites who arrange everything for their own self-interest. It's usually in their interests to have deep divisions in a society since it's more easily controlled that way. By the way, several people on here talking about 'our culture' and 'our country', You do realize that the internet is international, right? There are many different countries and cultures represented by members on this site.
