Video Chat Cuddle

edited January 2019 in General

Either revolutionary or crickets..lol - What about video chat cuddling? (FaceTime for example.)

I notice people mention talking in person so I figure I would throw this idea out there to see your input and experiences.

Thank you in advance!

The point of cuddling is to have human touch, by trying to do so remotely and by using video is so distant.
It's far away from the main goal!!

It doesn't work. Sure, it's fun to watch stuff with people over Skype, or take turns reading books to each other, or talk about whatever—but it's not cuddling, and doesn't have the same benefits.

The immune boost just doesn't happen over the internet. Online chats are nice... but they're not cuddling.

I need the physical touch. That’s the point.

  • Sometimes, I like to stuff pillow cases and socks with warm mashed potatoes, and assemble the squishy sacks into limbs. Then, I’ll place an old laptop where the head should be. The screen displays an image of @DarrenWalker, and I have voice recordings from our eight or so years of interacting at the ready. My favorite is “You’re worthless.” It’s said with such venom that I can’t help but to sob.

So, it’s kinda like video chatting and cuddling?

  • Makes a lot of sense, the human touch isn’t there physically with a video chat. Thank you!!

  • My initial thought is no, that defeats the whole point, and I still have that stance.
Darren Walker's post has such good ideas that I now want to intentionally implement in my life, so a tad torn.

I'm starting to very slightly understand hobgoblin's obsession :P

I wouldn't Facetime. I have had phone sessions. They are nice. You can still lay in bed. The same conversation I would have in person is the same on the phone. I tell them I am laying on my back pretending their head is on my chest as we talk. Some cuddlers I would like to meet , but are too far away.

    @PinkLipstick22: I feel popular!

I don't think anyone else will ever reach @hogboblin's level of obsession, though. That takes some serious mental and emotional problems. [beat] Which I, personally, am pleased to know he has. It makes him so valuable to me.

    ...I don't entirely understand hogboblin's obsession. But I think it's nice.

  • i like the idea of video chatting with a potential partner just to verify them. I think if you did try and cuddle by video , @soxgame8888 what protocol would you follow while doing it?

  • @soxgame8888 tho maybe a Introduction of yourself in the Profile about page, maybe that would work better...
in that way one can hear the tone of voice, the expressions, the talking speed... you know that little things that it's impossible to catch in text.

I kinda like @garrablanca 's idea. That makes sense only cause some voice types can be pretty mismatched for the mood.
Then again, the only thing that I'd be wondering is if it becomes an asmr video (which I am probably the only person who hates that kind of video but that's besides the point)

  • @alexb2 I’m not sure what I would do lol.
@garrablanca definitely, having a good profile would be important.
    All great ideas. Thank you.

  • @laylanie You are not alone in your hatred believe me

  • No human touch so its not that useful

  • Saying it is not useful seems a bit harsh & quick to dismiss this as yet another alternative to finding human connections. Of course if you are just comparing them, then, yes, I agree, physical cuddling is more beneficial. Cuddling offers a plethora of benefits when done in-person, there is no mistaking that, but that doesn't mean someone can't also find a connection via Phone or Video chats. There are many people that are simply unable to meet in-person. For example, if you are living or working in an area where there are no cuddlers, or ...actually there are many reasons why it just isn't an option sometimes, so it at least can be an alternate way to get human contact, affection, and positivity. I have had a phone conversations that were amazing, and beneficial, so it is, at least if nothing else, just another way to know you are not alone, and to share your time with another person.

Air bed > video chat cuddling.

  • @ArmsWideOpen I love it. Great perspective.

  • Well then it could work for you two @ArmsWideOpen and @soxgame8888
I think you should start another portal like VideoComfort.com a place in where you can have long conversation with anyone around the world.

    Could work!

But I prefer the electrified human touch!

  • Since my forum post on ASMR scored highest in the yes category, I'm willing to bet that video computer cuddles could become a thing both live and video. Video may already be.

  • I've been told my voice is extremely soothing. I've encountered maybe 3 women in my life that when they talk, they hit this weird spot in my brain. It's a different experience from ASMR, so it isn't that. If I could find someone like that, it might work. Just listening to them would be pretty amazing.
