Community

I am currently at E. G. Simmons park camping for a couple weeks just south of Tampa, FL. It's so peaceful here.

I realized after feeling homesick that I wanted community. This place has that in it's campground. People have been coming here for over a decade. I honestly feel honored to join in.

Today I set up free art lessons and a gal showed up and learned to acrylic paint for the first time. She has her own supplies, just never used them. It was cool that other people came by to chat too. I could really make a positive impact here.

I think I need to buy a white board calendar and do consistent classes before I leave. Like, today was multiple art things offered such as jewellery making, drawing and painting... but one medium at a time is nice too.

Been painting signs for myself but maybe a white board would be good for that too... save on supply cost. It was nice she gave me $5 towards replenishing supplies. I offer lessons free because knowledge and skill sharing should be just that in my opinion. I do need help with stuff like that tho.

I have dreams to do art across the USA with small communities. Just need to find a routine that works.

I am so excited for the future.

  • Love to hear how it goes :)

  • Sounds like an interesting and worthwhile project. Doing art can be theraputic in the same way that cuddling can be. And it has the advantage that you don't need another person to benefit from it.

  • I do henna sometimes. I'm not a pro, I just do it for free on friends. Sometimes people give me a few dollars to help cover the cost of supplies. It's very meditative both for me doing it and for the person receiving it. Most often, I do it on people's hands and I'm often holding their hand while doing it. Not quite cuddling but it's nice contact.

    Glad you're connecting with people

  • Sounds like fun. Hope it goes well.
