Thinking of Opening A Cuddling Place (Hosting Location) - Would Like feedback

Story - I have cuddlers in my area (Phoenix, AZ), I tend to approach people how can host because I can not host myself. I have thought it would be great if there is a place that would be less expensive than a hotel or AirBnb to be able to cuddle.

Basic Idea - Find a commercial or residential place and create a "Cuddle Palace". I also like the idea of creating community, so ideally I would like to see this as a community / social space beyond rooms for rent.

I am asking for input on this vision, I need to figure out if it could be done and be self sustaining or hopefully profitable. I also need to figure out scope, I will put the minimum and my ideal in the description.

I am thinking
At a Minimum - private rooms set up for cuddling which could be scheduled by professional and non professional cuddles. (if possible a shower)

Up to a mixed use facility:
- the private rooms
- one or more larger rooms for events (cuddle parties, meet up groups, workshops etc)
- a public social space (possibly with coffee shop type food/drink options) that would be "cuddle friendly" couches/floor pillows low tables etc.

What I would like to know:
**From Pro Cuddlers **
- would something like this be appealing you as a place to host clients If so why or why not and what would it need for you to want to use it.
- what you feel is a reasonable charge pre-hour? Or is there other options you might like -- a co-opp or membership deal etc.
- would a place like this encourage you to travel to visit and do session there. If it were set up with a full bathrooms food prep area would that help influence you.
- location within a city -- where do you feel it would be best to look for space, city center, arts district, finance district, more suburban/ residential area. Also looking at zip codes by residential income - what income level do you get the most client's from, where would you ideal set up to attract the most clients.
- location with US. I am thinking local to Phoenix AZ, but if I were to do this anywhere in the US where would be the best?

**From Pro Cuddler clients** - same as above from your perspective. Where would you feel most comfortable.
-- Do you have privacy concerns (if there is a public space, would you want a more discreet entrance; would you be concerned with being seen/recognized by other cuddle clients ect.
-- What surcharge based on the rates you pay now would be reasonable for using this space
   -- Any thoughts on location

**From Non Pro Cuddlers**
--What would you want in a space like this.
--Would you come to hang out?
-- Would you rent a room to cuddle in?

In general
-- Any idea are welcome

  • What you charge depends on rent/insurance/taxes/supplies/utilities. You need to cover these at a minimum. Moreover, you would need to reach out to your local media and press. Otherwise the perception to some zealots will be you are running a brothel/sex club/ human trafficking. You do not want Pastor Ron and his disciples at your doorstep protesting your house of sin.

  • @FunCartel I do hear you.
One of the reasons I posted is to get a feel for what people would pay in order to estimate ongoing cost vs revenue, and if this idea will work financially. It will need to be self supporting for the costs you mentioned and administrative costs (scheduling software, housekeeping etc)
Reputation/Branding will need to be done well for this is operates in the public space and reputation is one of the biggest risks I have identified.

  • This could work but you have to be very careful look up similar stories law enforcement has given people issues with this. I believe in the future this can be a big thing but good luck it can happen.

  • This is a good idea overall, but I only host (or use hotels) because I like to be in charge of the space. My biggest concern is cleanliness; I know that I do laundry pretty much everyday at home to keep the linens and pillows fresh. I also use HEPA filters in the cuddle space or bring to a hotel if traveling due to my allergies. Hotels clean every day if you let them, and certainly between every guest.

The other consideration is that anyone traveling to an area for cuddling will need a place to sleep and have their own private prep and personal time. This is why a hotel works; after and before scheduled sessions, I can shower, change clothes, reiki/qigong the space and myself, and then sleep there as I may need that.

I wouldn't want to rent a space by the hour, just seems too grimy to me though I admit this may be my own perception. Some pros have admitted on here that they don't clean or change linens between clients, and this is quite gross to me (but again, not to everyone clearly). So, for me I would want the assurance that the space is clean and kept up, will smell good, have space for cleaning myself, and be upscale and pleasant overall.
Charging hourly? Not more than $10-$15 I would think to be comparable to hotels and air bnbs, and without the benefits those options offer. AZ has very cheap hotels when I visit there, so if someone's planning an overnight that would be more cost effective overall.

If I were living in the area and couldn't host, then this might be quite ideal. I haven't personally had that situation, but trying to imagine it. Would be interested in what those who have that issue have to say.

Hope that's helpful! Very stream of thought, so I apologize for the lack of organization :)

  • I think liability would be an issue if someone were to be assaulted or get injured at your business.

Yes, it would be a lot easier for us if we had something like this. Hotels are expensive.

  • Other considerations;

—How can you ensure only cuddling is going on yet respecting the privacy of the parties.
—Will you have laundering facilities on-site?
—I would stick to a high volume area for cuddling (LA, NYC) to start with.
—Considering some pros do go through droughts how do you keep the turnstiles going or cultivate alternative revenue streams?

  • New York is the best place for this! I have created a small place that I will be soon opening if all goes as planned.

  • @PinkLipstick22 - where are these very cheap hotels in AZ? Not in Phoenix is my guess. You'll be lucky to find anything under $75 a night.

  • @UKGuy , West mesa and Phoenix; I was choosing between 3 different hotels with prices ranging from $48 - $68 a night. I booked one for 5 nights over Christmas for a total cost of $241.
I wanted the one with the jacuzzi and the pool, also had a gym and free "breakfast" (continental, pretty much useless). It was a Best Western, so not top of the line but decent.

Booking around here is easily $200/night and cheapest I ever got was $189, so to me the ones in AZ are dirt cheap :P

  • @PinkLipstick22 - you must know some secret I don't. I just did a search on Expedia for hotels in Mesa, AZ. It returned 127 properties, the cheapest being a Motel 6 at $110 per night.

  • Weird. A quick google search brought me:

Admittedly, I'm not looking for high luxury. I wonder if Google has me pegged ;)

  • Rented house will be great for this event

  • I realize that "Cuddling" as a paid service is seen as a "strange" or "weird" or plain creepy to some people. But as long as you aren't doing anything illegal I wouldn't care how other people perceive it. I am thinking about doing something similar and I live in a conservative area of Kansas. My biggest issue would just be getting the word out and generating enough revenue for it to be a profitable venture. I wish you luck and will be following this post to see how it turns out.

  • My thinking on something like this would be the private areas would be charged by the hour while the more “public” spaces would have the coffee and pastries as the way of bring in some revenue. Mind you this is coming from someone that does not have the best mind for business. But it seems better this way and people wouldn’t think of it as an establishment similar to a brothel.

  • @PinkLipstick22 RE: Phoenix Hotel Rates. You are looking at Aug. in Phx when it is a 115degrees , height of the "off season" Example that Red Roofed is $129 a night right now (noting it i spring training season here) . If you know where to look you can find a decent lower end place for $80-$100.
