What does it mean

What does it mean when you try and log in on the site and it says you can't because your IP address is banned ... but then, using another device your account is still active ... and then an hour or two later, everything appears fine again?!?
A warning? Some sort of automated or manual error? Not sure what to think here.

  • It means you have been a bad, bad boy.

  • Bad actors get their ip addresses banned so they cannot easily join again with a different name. This is why management has banned the ip addresses of most Virtual Private Networks. If your first login, the one that said your ip was banned came when you were on a public network, as in a coffee shop, a hotel room, etc, someone before you may have been a bad actor. It’s pretty random, but if your service uses dynamic ip addressing, they assign one of their ip addresses each time you login. So others have used it. But today, most have static ip addresses, meaning it stays linked to your account. There could be 100 other reasons. Who understand EVERYTHING techie?

  • I had this problem once, and it had something to do with the vpn i was using. When i stopped using that i never had the issue again. I’m not sure how i gathered that information in the first place but i noticed it and discovered that was the problem.
